SUMMER'S POV

Getting caught and taken into this camp, was the easiest thing ever, but trying to get out- well, that's another story. Sneaking guns off is also quite complicated, but Conner got away with it. Finding Will, is yet another problem. Thankfully, I spot the boy off in the distance. He's speaking with his father, Emeren.

The Traitor leader seems to be yelling something at his son, and I can't help but notice the blood on his hands. Emeren's hair is spiked up, so he looks quite like a madman. Will says something back, and then his father turns away from him, and eventually walks off.

This is the time, I tell myself.

I, as unnoticeably as possible, approach him.

"Will." I say in a hushed tone, not even facing him. There's a handful of other Traitors walking by, doing their jobs.

"What is it?" he asks, looking miserably tired. His hair has got a faint tint of brown to it, probably dirt or something.

"We need your help," I explain vaguely. I have a feeling that he truly is on our side. After he defended us only a day ago... He's nothing like his father, which is a relief. He'd make a good member to our team.

"Summer, I-I can't. My dad's on to me about Dakota." The repeated name makes me want to punch someone, but I remain calm. I don't have to worry about him anymore.

"We have to get out of here," I tell him. The words slip from my mouth, "You can come with us."

He tenses up. "Someone has to help my dad," he runs a hand through his hair.

"Do you know someone... anyone who is willing to help us?" I cautiously wonder, "Someone who knows this is wrong."

He looks deep in though as he stares off, "There is someone, I guess."

In the corner of my eye, I spot a figure, and then I realize that Emeren Embers has returned. "I gotta go." I begin to walk off, giving him one last, thankful glance.

"Summer, wait." He pulls me back, "My dad knows that you didn't follow Dakota's orders. He plans to kill the rest of you, soon. Be careful."

I nod, a bit shocked, and then I casually walk off until I'm at the front of my Bunk.

Conner brushes by me, whispering, "Your pillow." He keeps walking, and I figure that he's been called for a job or something. I haven't received too many "jobs" since I've gotten here, but trust me- I'm not complaining! Emeren probably knows that I'm not of any use anyway. Conner, on there other hand, is very good at fixing things up. You need to hijack a car? Call Conner. Not saying I suggest that...

I pull out my old backpack from under my bed. I had used it before I was captured by Dakota and Kaylen. It's a dull greenish color, and I had gotten a lot of use out of it before the Ruining.

"Piper! This is called breaking an entering!" I snap, adjusting the straps on my backpack, so that it'll fit more comfortably.

"I got permission from his mom!" She looks down from the fence she is already climbing over, with a smug look on her face.

I sigh, crossing my arms.

"You coming?" Her light eyes are filled with excitement as they long for adventure.

I roll my eyes, "Fine, but if we get in trouble, this is your fault!"
