“No, just feed,” I said, I just wanted it all to end. I tried to sit back down but he wouldn’t let me.

He stood there before me, he seemed so tall like a giant though he was only 6’2. He had short black hair, but beautiful green eyes that captivated attention. He had a very masculine face with a square jaw. Broad shoulders and gentle hands. He was probably somewhere around the age of twenty-seven.

He quickly swept me up into his arms, my head fit into his shoulder and my arms found themselves wrapped around his neck. His body seemed to radiate heat. My eyes had closed and my breathing had slowed, though my heart was trying to compensate for the excitement, but it was struggling to keep up the pace. He ran at his vampire speed towards the exit. Which compared to humans would have been a Daytona 500 car compared to a beat up station wagon. He almost made it out with me in his arms, but Brooke stood before him and blocked his way.

“Put her down and leave now, and you will not be hunted.” she said.

“Sorry I don’t think so. She’s coming with me, let us leave now, and you will not be hunted. Who am I kidding The Council is back and they are going to shut you down and kill you for breaking the laws.”

She just laughed “You think I am afraid of The Council? I took care of them 200 years ago and I can take care of them now. They are of no threat to me.”

He gently set me down on the floor, he was preparing to fight. But everyone else was careful to stay back not wanting to get caught in the crossfire.

My body was freezing. ‘This is it. I’m dying’ I thought, but then there was nothing. I looked around, no one was near me. I was so close to the door. I crawled with all of my strength. But the one person who I didn’t need to notice, noticed. Brooke went after me, her foot easily found its way to my stomach kicking me hard and knocking me into the air and across the floor until my body finally found a very hard uncomfortable rest against a cement pillar. I could feel the stitches in my neck tear from the whiplash. I could feel my warm blood pouring out, my hand instinctively tried to stop the bleeding which wasn’t going very well.

The man was able to buy some time. He managed to hit Brooke, I was amazed to see her fly through the air and as her body hit a cement pillar just like the one I had, I could hear her bones break. The sound was astonishingly disgusting. But it was very effective. She wouldn’t be getting up for a few hours. He quickly bent down ripped off my bracelet and gently held me in his arms as we sped out of the building.

My vision was very blurry, I couldn’t focus on anything and for a while my eyes had closed and wouldn’t open no matter how hard I had tried. But every once and a while I could muster up the strength to open them once again. When in all actuality all of this had happened in a matter of minutes.

He rushed into an apartment, it was number 127. My hand still held on tightly to my neck, trying to prevent any more blood from spilling. I could feel the cold tile beneath me, the only reason I could tell we were in a kitchen was because he set me down right next to the fridge. But in an instant I was no longer lying on the cold floor but leaning against what felt like a warm pillow. It took me a few seconds before I realized that the movement I had noticed was not me moving, but him breathing. My back was against his stomach and he was holding me tight, trying to make sure I didn’t fall over. Suddenly his right arm vanished then after a bite sound (I had gotten particularly good at distinguishing them) had reappeared before me. There were multiple little holes on his wrist, this was no ordinary vampire bite, this was something different. But red blood flowed from the holes none the less.
