Finding My Own Way

I hugged my father goodbye and climbed into the driver's seat of the car he was letting me have. I looked into the back seat and made sure Jessica was buckled up and asleep. I pulled out of the driveway and drove down the street until I was out of the pack community. I was heading for a place Nick would never find me and I could raise Jessica on my own without Nick or Dylan ruining her life. The hate between them is too much to put a child through, it was too much for me to put through, and my daughter doesn't need that in her life. I'm planning on laying low, but finding a pack to stay with that won't tell my secret.

My father had told me of a pack that welcomed any wolf that was alone or running away from something. They wouldn't tell anyone who you were and they would help you in any way they could. So I was planning on going to that pack, the best part is barely anyone knows about that pack. So Nick and Dylan will never find me there.

I notice that I have tears streaming down my face and pull over to the side of the road. I'm crying because I just left my husband and friends behind without telling any of them goodbye and my heart breaks at the thought that I just took my daughter away from ever knowing her fathers, cause she has Dylan's mark, and she may never meet them.

*Nick's POV*

"We have to find her," I say pacing the living room "She couldn't have gotten far,"

"Nick we can't trace her smell it's completely gone," Jacob says while calmly sitting on the couch

"Her dad!" I yell the idea flying into my head

"What about her dad?" Jacob asks

"We can't trace her smell because she went to her dad, airgo she left our territory," I say

Jacob nods in understandment and stands from the couch "I'll go get a team ready and we can head there at noon,"

I nod and he leaves the house. I walk up the stairs and into the baby's room, I don't even know her name. I wanted to name her Ivory when she was born so that's what everyone calls her, but I wonder if Molly named her something else. I look around the room and feel hollow inside, why would Molly just leave in the middle of the night? It's been a day, today is the second, and we haven't been able to track her down.

"Wollowing in the baby room isn't going to bring her back or find her," a voice says from behind me

I turn around and see Dylan standing in the doorway.

"What do you want?" I snarl at him

"I heard you were assembilng a team to head up to her father's territory," he says "I wish to come,"

"You can't come you're not a wolf," I say "It'd be too much work to haul you around,"

"If you insist then I won't come," he says "I'll just stay back then,"

"I'm glad you understand were I'm coming from," I say and he nods

"Nick! We have a team ready!" Jacob yells up the stairs

"I must go," I say pushing past Dylan

I run down the stairs and together Jacob and I walk outside and I look at the team. 6 men stand before all ready to be given orders.

"Are you men ready?" I yell

They point their heads to the sky and howl saying they're ready and we all shift and take off running.

*At The Territory Line*

I stop and wait for everyone to catch up to me before we cross the line. As we step across we heard howls coming from the trees in front of us and we stopped. Wolves came running into view and stopped in front of us. The leader and I both shifted and faced each other.

"Molly isn't here," he says "You must leave now,"

"I request to see her father," I say

"He sends his condolences about her missing," he says "But he is a busy man,"

"I don't care I wish to speak to him immediantely," I say

"You may not," he says "But you can leave,"

"If Molly isn't here what's the big deal about him wanting to see her dad?" Jacob asks from behind me and I turn and see everyone shifted

"The big deal is he is not well with his daughter's disappearing," the man says "It has upset him dearly and seeing you may make him worse,"

"I understand," I say "Men let's go,"

The men all nod and we all shift and cross back over the line. Well that was a bust.

*Molly's POV*

After my break down on the side of the road I continued on my way to the new pack. I made it in no time and as soon as I drove into the pack community I was welcomed by many people.

"Welcome," a women says "You must want to see the Alpha and Luna?"

I nod and she gives me directions to the house and I drive to it, ignoring the stares of people as I pass them. I pull into the driveway of the house and climb out and grab Jessica from the backseat and walk up to the front door. As I was about to knock the door opened and a women was standing in front of me.

"Aw welcome come in come in," she says "Oh a baby! How delightful,"

I walk in the door and she closes it behind me and I see a man standing in the living room.

"Please come in and sit down," he says smiling at me

I walk in and sit on the couch and they sit in chairs across from me.

"I'm Luna Mary and this is my husband Alpha Jeremy," the woman says

"I'm Luna Molly," I say

"The one married to Alpha Nick?" Mary gasps

I nod my head and force the tears to stop welling into my eyes.

"My dear this is a far way to travel. Is Nick alright?" Jeremy asks

"He's fine, as far as I know anyway. No I ran away," I say

"Why?" Mary asks

"Because my child does not need to be around that. As I'm sure you've heard my child is Nick's but it is marked with Alpha Dylan's mark," I say

"Yes we heard something about that," Jeremy says

"And with the hateridge between the two of them I couldn't stand by and let my daughter be in the middle of it," I say

"We understand honey," Mary says

"I was wondering if there was a possibility that I could live here?" I ask

"Why of course. And I'm sure Mary would agree with me when I say you are welcome to live with us," Jeremy says as Mary nods

"I can?" I ask

"Of course a single mother in a new town," Mary says "It's the least we can do,"

"Thank you so much," I say

"Your welcome," Mary says "Now Jeremy will show you to the guest room and you can take a short nap and I'll watch over the little one,"

"Thank you," I say again "Her name is Jessica by the way,"

"Jessica what a lovely name," Mary says smiling down at Jessica

Jeremy shows me to the guest room and I lay down in the bed and stare at the ceiling for a while before I finally drift off to sleep.

I'm finding my own way in the world now.
