Sorry but this isn't a chapter. I wanted to give some background information before I get into the actual story. This book doesn't have real characters or is real for my life but I wanted to try somthing new!
Salmon: Salmon is just a girl with a fishes' name. She gets teased a lot for it. The friendship sparks between her and Cat when they are the only ones who don't tease each other about their names. Cat is there to help Salmon through school, since she can't see. But not only that, Cat is the best friend Salmon could ask for. Though, she doesn't know what Salmon goes through when she isn't there. Salmon doesn't come from a family. No, she's living on the streets. Sometimes, she'll sneak in the school with the janitor at night and stay there. Nobody knows what hardships she's going through though. Not even Cat. On the day they are torn apart, things get really bad for Salmon.
Cat: Cat is like Salmon's protector. Because Salmon is teased so much, she doesn't have many friends. Cat never leaves Salmon's side at school. She never tells people how to spell her name. If they spell it with a K like short for Kathrine then fine. She isn't made fun of as much as Salmon though. Suddenly their friendship is torn apart and Cat doesn't know what to do...
Jay: Jay is just a mild mannered janitor. He is actually the same age as Cat and Salmon but quite school when both his parents lost their jobs and left he and his sister behind. He makes a living for the both of them, although his sister (Vicky) is never home, and is really quite good at his job. He doesn't like to talk much but once you get to know him, he can be pretty chatty.
