It was dark and cold midnight, the moon hides behind the clouds, a starless sky; calm and peaceful. Then there I was, running on the pavements, sweating incredibly, tired but will never stop from running. I was about to sleep when I felt something horrible within my heart, so horrible I can't even just let it go. I immediately ran to Arthur's house to check if he's okay, I just can't wait until tomorrow. I'm hoping that my instincts were wrong and I'm just being anxious.
As I reached Arthur's house, I knocked on the door without delay. As nobody answer, I looked up to the second floor's window in Arthur's room. It was incredibly peaceful; it's so peaceful it only just made me more worried. Then I heard a loud deafening sound; a gunshot! Tears started falling from my eyes; I started to lose my calm even more. I screamed his name like never before, I even screamed for help but nobody seems to care. And then I remember Arthur always forgot to lock the back door. I take my chances and went through the hedges, branches scraped and scratched my body but that doesn't stop me. My best friend needs me more than ever and I don't want to fail him.
As I reached the back door, it wasn't just unlocked it was open. I immediately enter the house; it was pitch black except from a tiny beam of light coming from upstairs. I slow down, my heart started to race. As I reached the top I took a deep breath and proceed to Arthur's room where the light is coming from. I pushed the door a little and saw Arthur lying on the floor, covered in blood. I was stunned and can't seem to move, my tears burst into my eyes; they poured out like a waterfall. As I found myself I plunged myself to Arthur, I held him into my arms wondering why. I couldn't believe my eyes, my mind is trying to deny it but he is there lying.
A fancy Siren was heard all over the town, Red and Blue lights flashing from the windowpane. The policemen came with a bunch of medics; one of the policemen came over and asked me to step away so they can start the investigation. I stood up, still looking at Arthur.
"Ma'am what happened? Somebody called us and told us that they heard a gunshot."
"He... he... killed himself, I know I just know."
The policeman looked at me awfully "It must be hard for you ma'am, I'm deputy Sanders."
He offered me his hand but I just looked at it blankly. "I'm Micah, I'm his best friend."
They gave me a blanket and water while I just stand there lost within my thoughts; one of them accompanied me outside and started to ask me questions.
As one of the medics approached me, I immediately asked him.
"Where is he?"
"He's already on his way to the Hudson's Hospital; he needs further treatment but we believed that he will be alright. It seems that he didn't hit any vital part of his head but I cannot assure you that he will be the same as before.
His words rung into my ears like an echo. My whole world stopped for a minute or two, I can't seem to get a grip of what's happening.
"I want to see him."
"No worries ma'am, I'll accompany you."
I felt extremely tired but I cannot rest until I know he's alright. As we moved along the way, I remember the first time I met Arthur.
It was hot and sunny that day, I was out for a good walk in the park when I saw a pretty looking guy all alone. I can see the sadness in his eyes; he seems so lonely and suffering. Then I saw him threw a bunch of paper in the trash can. I gathered all my guts and picked it up and approached him.
"Hey, I think this belongs to you by the way I'm Micah" he wiped his tears away before looking at me.
"It used to but now you can have it if you only want to though" then he smiled before looking away, His smile was so bright that it blinded me like the sun.
