Professor Oak let Red go first since his grandson was being a bit rude and after all that he chose his starter Charmander. When choosing his starter Professor Oak gave Red & Blue a pokedex and five pokeballs and told them to set off on their journey. So as Red stepped into the open he realized he just took the first step in his adventure and headed to Viridian city. Red then looks at Blue who is already practically running towards the first gym until he stopped and walked back to Red. "Hey Red since we now have our first pokemon, we should battle." Red then nods and the battle commences.
