Chapter 3 - Sweeter than Honey

A beautiful young woman stood in front of a floor length mirror that was the loveliest ivory colour. The mirror itself however could not compare in beauty to the image it reflected, the image of a bride. Amelia stared back at the woman in the mirror, clad in a traditionally white dress which clung to her shapely body before flowing out neatly after her knees. The woman who owned the shop had called it a mermaid -style dress, all Amelia knew was that it was the perfect dress, her perfect dress.

She twirled around slowly, allowing herself to enjoy this moment for it would have to imprint itself into her memory for a lifetime. Her thoughts drifted to her husband to-be, her Jackson, the man that was beginning to grow on her, and indeed her heart was growing fonder each day. The past two weeks had been comparable to a dream, a fairytale in which Jackson had been the most charming of princes. Dates had been accompanied with flowers and late night conversations over the phone had been accompanied with promises of a beautiful future. Amelia found herself reminiscing her favourite of the dates, a simple one indeed, where they had eaten dinner under the stars atop the great hill near her home.

Four Days Earlier

"Your cooking is bloody amazing .." Jackson had stated after having polished off the last bite of apple crumble she had prepared.

"Thanks , " She replied, thankful that the night concealed the blush that rose upon her cheeks.

"Thank goodness, a justifiable reason to marry you at last!" he teased, a cheeky grin plastered upon his handsome face.

"I had thought my infinite beauty was sufficient enough reason to become my husband," she had replied, playing along with him in a hurt voice.

Instead of a reply she had assumed would follow immediately, for she had recently learnt that Jackson was awfully quick-witted and sharp, she was met by a deafening silence, and when she looked up she met Jacksons gaze upon her.

"I cannot even joke about your beauty Amelia," he said, his eyes never leaving hers, an act of both honesty and pure awe.

" You will spoil me with you sweetness before we're even married..." she said lightly for the intensity of the moment had truly taken her breath away. Her heart seemed to have given up on trying to protect her from heartbreak, she knew in her heart that she was throwing caution to the wind quite dangerously, but she did not care for the man in front of her was seemingly too amazing for words.

"Come here baby, let me hold you and I will show you all the constellations I learnt as a young lad at the wretched private school I was forced to!" he had said, his arms spread ready to encase her with his warmth. He wanted her close, he ached for her, longed to be with her in all senses of the word.

Amelia, of course, obliged and she silently swooned at the newest term of endearment he had taken to calling her, she was quite fond of it though she tried to hide it for fear of embarrassment. She settled comfortably in his arms, she had felt at peace then, safe , and without any worries.

Present

That day had marked a change between the two of them, an unspoken promise that held such enormity it could not be merely defined. It could only be felt, and Amelia felt it in her heart and soul. She also knew it was only the beginning.

*************

It was the day before the big day. Lust , pure and adulterated coursed through Jacksons veins as he held Amelia in his arms, kissing her as though life itself depended on it. His hands that were settled on the small of her back ventured lower ... then lower still until he had a firm grasp of her equally firm behind. Amelia pulled back startled, he had never made such a bold move until now, it both surprised and intrigued her .

"Jackson?" she asked, wondering what brought on such intensity though she was quite pleased at the effect she obviously had on him. She has read somewhere once that "A Wife should be her husbands strongest weakness as much as she is his strength to carry on". She wanted to be Jacksons weakness because he sure as hell was her own!

"I don't want you to go, let's stay here and then I'll take you home later," he said, pulling her tighter against his chest.

"I can't do that besides tonight is my last night of freedom away from you Cambridge!" she teased, her fingers crawling up his chest playfully.

He all but growled at her before claiming her lips once more, his tongue seemed to be exploring her mouth!

"What's the urgency? Tomorrow we'll be married ..' she said when he released his hold on her lips and face.

"Right, that's true but ...you're not allowed male strippers!" he said, a frown had settled upon his handsome face.

"It's a bachelorette party, I'm sure I'll have the pleasure of many delicious -" she said , laughing at the intensely disturbed expression on Jacksons face..

"Amelia ," he cut her off warningly and in such a menacing tone that it sent shivers down her spine.

" A joke ... dear husband' she replied coyly, in truth, all the wine he had provided her with over lunch had her feeling pointedly daring and feisty. Had he intentionally wanted her to be tipsy in order to sway her decision to stay? Oh this ogre, she thought!

"I shall see you tomorrow then.." he said, seemingly giving up on persuading her to stay.

" Yup, I'll be the one walking down the aisle towards you in a white dress ..." she grinned before slipping out of his arms and escaping towards the door.

Jackson was left staring after her retreating figure, he had to admit to finding slightly intoxicated Amelia endlessly charming. Tomorrow she would his wife... his wife!

The big day will be up next!

-Yours , A.
