Chapter 2 - Carpe Diem

A soft breeze found its way into the cozy, Vintage- American Style Cafe that at Amelia sat in reading her favourite novel. She had read the novella many times before yet the pleasure of each page still appealed. In a casual pair of jeans with a chunky knitted jumper for the chill, she sat cross-legged at one of the high seats close to the counter.

"What are your plans for today, Mel" said Matthew Jameson, her best friend and owner of Carpe Diem at which she spent many of her days.

"I'm going to hang out here for a bit then head to the library, Mrs. Bucherman said to check in for a job today. " she replied, smiling warmly at Matthew...

"Sounds good, would you do me a giant favour?" he said coming round the counter to stand by Amelia.

"What's up?" She asked curiously, though of of course she would do anything for Matthew, he was her best-friend after all.

" I need these letters posted ,and I would send one of my own staff, but we are about to get incredibly busy in about thirty seconds, please?" He asked, holding a small stack of letters in his hand.

"Of course Matt!" she said, rolling her eyes at him jokingly.

"Thanks Smelly Melly.." he grinned cheekily, swooping down to give her a kiss on the cheek before hurrying away to get ready for the rush hour.

Walking into the coffee shop that morning, Jackson thought about how he probably wouldn't be such a regular if it wasn't for a certain gold haired, green eyed woman. Speaking of which, as he turned his head he happened to catch Amelia sitting looking up at some guy. Then the young man gave her a kiss on the cheek, and she was left grinning to herself.

Jackson had never experienced a smile wipe off his face only to be replaced by a frown so quickly. His blood seemed to simmer momentarily before he was left staring at the spot Amelia sat in thunderously.

She put the letters in her suede satchel and when she looked up, she saw Jackson standing only a few feet away from her. An instant smile spread upon her face as she looked upon the face of the man whom she had spent a wonderful day with before. The smile dropped slowly however and was replaced by confusion at the way he was looking back at her.

"Hey," she said, her tone slightly higher due to her nervousness at being under his gaze.

"You said a friend of your's owned this cafe, a female friend.. then do tell me darling why I walked in only to find you being kissed by another man ?.." he asked sharply, stepping closer to her in the motion.

"W-what?,'' Amelia asked, both astounded and baffled at the same time.

"You are about to become my wife, I won't accept this behaviour .." he chastised, his jaw clenched tightly.

" I did not say that it was a female friend! I only -" she started, only to be cut off by her fiancé.

" I assumed it was implied that a woman about to get married would not have a boyfriend!" he said harshly, harsher than initially intended in fact.

"It was a kiss on the cheek.." she said , standing up so she did not feel so intimidated by the wretched man who dare to accuse her! She was not a meek little girl to be reprimanded!

" I do not care for the type of kiss Amelia, it was a kiss.. and I will be the only man to kiss my wife.'' he replied.

So this was a case of jealousy and possession she thought, something new has been learnt about her future husband. She took a deep breath in order to calm down.
