I hadn't really left my house the last couple of days. Since I was leaving in a few weeks I decided to start packing so that I was somewhat productive. I wasn't in the mood to do anything, him leaving really had me down. Just as I finished packing up my bookshelf my phone began to ring. "Hello?"
"Get dressed, I'm picking you up in half an hour."
"No thanks, Corey. I don't feel like going out."
"C'mon Dre, you haven't left your house in 3 days."
"I've been busy. I'm packing up my things, I'm gunna start taking my stuff out to LA next week."
"Stop making excuses, I know why you haven't left. You need to get your mind off him"
"I know, but it's hard. I don't think I can."
"You promised him remember.."
"Yes I know, but still."
"But nothing. Get dressed, we're going out."
"Fine. Is Mady going to be okay with this?"
"Eh, I don't really care. My bestfriend needs me, plus were fighting again."
"Wanna talk about it."
"No, don't change the subject. This is about you. Be ready in half an hour."
"Okay, see you then." I say hanging up the phone.
I shook my head and laughed. That kid was a pain. Once I finished getting ready, I laid in bed. I felt myself dozing off just at someone knocked on my door. "Come in" I say rubbing my eyes.
"You were seriously falling asleep, it's 1 in the afternoon." Corey says laughing.
"It's been a long week I'm tired." I say trying to defend myself. He just shakes his head and plops down on my bed.
"So what do you wanna do?" He asks.
"Sleep!" I say turning around and laying down. I soon feel 2 big arms wrap around me and pick me off my bed.
"We're gunna go sit in the truck until you decide where we're going." He says carrying me down the stairs "whether you like it or not." I laugh shaking my head and try to get down. He eventually reached the truck, opened the passenger door and put me inside.
"Well since I'm out already, what is there to do?" I say in defeat.
"That's the spirit!" He says with a big ol smile. "We can go to the movies, or go eat. We can go to the batting cages, we can go to the park and you can pitch to me. Or we can walk around the mall or just go to the park and sit there, I'll buy you food on the way. Or we can go to my house and watch some movies if you don't wanna go out. Anything you want."
"Hmmmm, how about we go to the cages so I can show you up" I say with a smirk.
"You're on kid." He says as he starts the truck. We drive for a while and stop at the store and buy some chips and Gatorades. "Ready to get your butt kicked" he says as we pull up to the cages.
"Someone sounds a little cocky." I say "don't cry to your mom when I do better than you." He rolls his eyes.
"We'll see about that," He says shoving me while we walk inside. We went about 4 rounds and tried to see who hit the most. I won 2 rounds and he won 2 rounds so it was a tie. We were too tired to go again so we called it a draw. "You know if we went another round I would've whooped you."
"Sure you would've," I say rolling my eyes. "So you going to take me home now?"
"Damn, I thought we were having fun but I guess if you wanna leave you can." He says, "or instead of laying in bed for the rest of the day, which I know you plan on doing, we can go drive to a sight and grab some food on the way." I just laughed and walked to the truck. "I'll take that as a yes" He says with his cheesy smile.
"You better get me Xxtra Hot Cheetos." I say jokingly.
"Anything for you." I look at him and smile. He was the one thing I had left. I couldn't ask for anyone better to help me through this. He was amazing, he knew how to get me smiling through anything.
