DAIRY OF AN AVERAGE NORTHERN GIRL

Hello Dairy,

My name is Adila Cantara Hadeed, weird for a northern girl right? I know. This is my first time writing here so I'll have to introduce myself to you.

My weird name was given to me by my parents who think they needed to spice things up a bit. They didn't want to follow the typical Hausa tradition of giving me my grandma's name. Trust me I thank them for that.

But I always wonder? Why cantara. I still never thought of looking for the meaning of the name.....

Anyways I come from an average Family, nothing special about us. We thank Allah every day for Giving us food to eat, shelter and happiness and also for keeping us healthy.

I come from a family of 4. I and my sister "Ayn". Yeah, i know its weird too. My mama and my Dada. Dada is a normal government worker while mama is a business woman. Our life has always been the kind of "Mungode wa Allah"(we thank Allah) kindof life.

we hail from kano/tarauni. even though we don't typically visit there. in short, I have never visited the tarauni itself, just maybe a few parts of kano. I hear its a nice place, maybe towards my wedding, i might visit who knows. we live in the outskirts of Abuja town, Kubwa to be precise.

So dairy, my purpose of having you is that I am an introvert. I don't talk much or engage my self in a long conversation with anybody. People often mistake my quietness as giving cold shoulders. I need someplace to write my story down and here you are. I think that's enough. Haha.

So ill be going to university next week. I got an admission into Kings University. It is one of the prestigious Univeristies here in Nigeria. Sorry "we would" because you are my companion now 😀😁. I would write all our stories and encounters because I heard its a scary place and I sincerely don't want to go but I have no choice, as my admission is out already.

Ill be doing a little shopping. Just a few things. Dada gave me more than enough money for that and I plan to start saving. I mean N30,000 is more than enough. Ill be going to the market with Ayn tomorrow and shop.

Incase you are wondering how I got you. I bought you from a local store and u cost a little over N400. Nothing much.

I hope my university life turns out great and simple. sincerely speaking dairy I am a bit nervous. not a bit but very nervous. I hear people wear skimpy clothes and boys and girls mix up in class. am just 16. I sure hope it turns out as I want it to.
