Harry turned around.

"I'm sorry, is my hearing a little fuzzy? Did you say..."

"Yes, Harry. I did. And I don't know why." Hermione sighed. "I couldn't control it. It felt almost.. electrical."

"Do you.. Maybe, want to confront someone about this? Do you reckon Professor McGonnagal would know anything about our current situation?" Harry asked.

He tried to act as nonchalant as possible, but Hermione noticed the obvious redness in his cheeks.

"Yeah. I think that would be the smartest thing to do. I mean, it's not like this is the first time this has happened, right?" She concluded.

"Right."

Harry felt dazed. He was staring at her for what felt like an eternity, and oddly enough, no one broke the ice. Both their faces yearned with lust. Were friendships supposed to be like this?

Hermione began walking to him slowly, fidgeting her hands behind her back. She then pulled him lovingly, and the two shared a rather amorous hug.

Pulling away, she whispered, "I.. I know I shouldn't be doing this. I just..."

"You just what?" Harry asked, his heart racing at the speed of light.

"Ron." She cried.

Harry sighed.

"You know I'm doing the best I can, Hermione. We'll figure it out soon. Don't worry." He said in a reassuring tone.

"No, it's not that.. I just feel like I'm being unfaithful to him. Because-- Right now, all I want to do is..." Hermione bit her lip.

Harry gave a confused look.

"Kiss me." She said.

"What?"

"Kiss me."

Not knowing whether to be a good friend to Ron and a loyal boyfriend to Ginny, or to simply follow his heart was one of the hardest choices to make for Harry. In a sense, he had already made his decision, but seeing her face as it glistened in the moonlight made it even harder to resist.

He had so badly wanted to kiss her. It was wrong, very wrong, he thought. However it was also what he wanted to do. No one had to know, right?

So, without any trace of hesitation, he leaned in and their lips met. Harry only remembered how soft her lips were and how right it felt when they were together. Sparks flew everywhere, and for a moment it felt like they were the only two people in the world.

He cupped her face gently and continued to kiss her, each kiss growing more and more passionate.

Breathless, they both pulled away.

"I.. don't know what to say." He smiled sheepishly.

Hermione only responded with a small giggle.

"Everything's going to change now, isn't it?" She asked.

"I guess. I mean, we did share saliva, didn't we?" He said, lifting a brow.

"Shut up!"

She whacked him on the arm.

"Okay, okay, fine."

"Look..." She blushed. "You're a great kisser, you know? I just don't know how this is gonna play out. With.. Everything that's happened."

"No, no, I absolutely understand. I have a lot guilt in me too. I mean, with Ginny and all. So how do you reckon we explain this?" Harry scratched his head.

Hermione gasped.

"Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry, Harry! I totally completely forgot about Ginny. Oh my, she's gonna be so upset!" She panicked.

"It's not your fault! I kissed you when I had the chance not to. So.. You know what? I have to end things with her... I can't be in a relationship with someone else.. Because I feel something when I'm around you." He admitted.  "And it's hard to hide those feelings when you're, well, you."

--HERMIONE'S POV--

Hermione couldn't explain the sudden butterflies in her stomach-- the way Harry made her feel was unlike any other guy she had met. She felt protected, wanted, and most of all, loved.

To her surprise, guilt did not get the better of her. Though it was wrong of her to kiss him knowing that he and Ginny were still together, it was a risk she was willing to take.

After the traumatizing experience with Lord Voldemort, she thought she had everything planned out for her. The love she felt for Ron was undeniable. He was her rock to lean on when all else failed. But only now has she realized that sticking with the dagger option isn't necessarily the best. It was the option that made her happier that she wanted. And Harry was just that. He was everything Ron was not.

It's funny, how certain things happen all to lead to another. Was it fate that brought her and Harry together?

And so Hermione responded with a soft smile.

"Me too." She breathed.
