Dubiety! (Short story)

Chapter 2

3 years later!

I am now 17 years old and life has gotten a lot easier. I no longer stay with my mom I got took away. I actually haven't seen my mom since I was in the hospital. I stay with my bestfriend Shawntae, her big brother Keon, and her grandma Patricia (Granny). They know I tried to kill myself when I was 14 but they don't know why. We don't get into detail about it and I like it that way. They also know what I was going through with my mom and the trashy apartment complex I lived in but I mean they what I want them to know.

They are not rich but, they are not poor they just have a little money. I warmed up to them after a couple months of staying with them and now they're like family. Their grandma is a nurse and works with my mom. My mom is in rehab and she knows I want nothing to do with her at least for now and she respects that. I live in a nice sized house that is like 10 minuets from our school if you are driving. I also have a job at the finish line and it's been going so well for me. I can finally say I'm feeling happy.

As if right now I am in the bathroom getting ready for school.

Someone knocked on the door dramatically "Marina hurry up man you been in there for hours I gotta pee." As soon as they talked I automatically knew it was Keon, Tae big brother.

"No I haven't! Use the one downstairs." I yelled putting all my stuff away in to a small crate.

"Tae is in there and she taking all day too." I heard the lock jingle & I automatically knew what he was doing he was using something to unlock the door. The door busted open then he closed it. Around this house there ain't no such thing as privacy the locks are easy to get into all you have to do is twist it with something.

"Thank you!" He yelled.

"I don't know why he saying thank you cause I ain't let him in he needs to get out."

"Keon what the fuck you doin? Uh un no get the fuck out!" I yelled and he unzipped his pants and peed.

"I know you are not fuckin- "I stopped scrubbing my face then looked over. My eyes widened and mouth opened he chuckled.

"Uggghhh!! You couldn't wait?!" I said rinsing my face off and he flushed the toilet & washed his hands while I grabbed my belongings and we both walked out at the same time but it was unintentional.

"What the hell was y'all doin?" Tae asked pointing to me then Keon.

"Girl byee it wasn't even like that yo brother unlocked the lock the went pee while I was washing my face." She looked both if us up and down. Everyone except granny and a few others knows Keon always is flirting with me and Tae hates it.

"Why didn't he use the one downstairs?" She said with her lips twisted and arms folded like she didn't believe me.

"Because you were in it!" I said getting irritated.

"No I wasn't!" She said getting smart. I reached over and punched Keon in the chest. He laughed then winked at me walking downstairs.

"That's what he told so don't be gettin smart with me how was I suppose to know it was a lie?" I said walking away following him down the steps.

"Mhmm" she said poking out her lips with her arms still crossed.

Everyone was downstairs getting breakfast and snacks. I just got some toaster strudels, and a water.
