Chapter Five

After blasting out a bunch of emails about the Lacrosse party being moved Scott's house, we were able to get a majority of the school there.

As I watched everyone having a good time, dancing to the raving music and strobe lights, I leaned up against a wall with folded arms.

Someone brushed past me, placing their alcoholic beverage on one of Melissa's oak-wood tables. I contorted my face as I raced over to it "No- not there..." I sighed, before the front-door swung open, causing a hanging photo of Scott and Melissa to fall off of the wall, nearly shattering on the floor until I extended my arm, causing it to freeze in mid-air.

I let out a breath of relief as Liam walked over to it, grabbing it from it's floating position.

"You stole my party!" Nathan's angry voice erupted as he stormed over to Liam, holding him up against the wall by the throat.

Liam lets out a cough as Nathan continues restricting his air-supply. "What, are you gonna steal lacrosse captain, too?" Nathan spits,

"I didn't think you'd be mad." Liam chokes, as I narrow my eyes and make my way over to the two.

"How'd you think I'd take it?" Nathan badgers, causing me to roughly grab his shoulder and spin him around to face me. He loses his grip on Liam, allowing him to breath as he faces me.

"Like a man?" I offer, folding my arms.

Nathan opens his mouth to say something he'll regret, but before he can, Mason runs up to us.

"Or in hundreds?" Mason proposes, holding out a few hundred dollar bills,

A wide grin appeared on Nathan's face as he snatched the money from Mason's grasp, "Whoo!" he shouted, raising his arms as he went to join the party.

"I'm starting to think this wasn't a good idea." Liam pipes up, adjusting his shoulder.

"Scott told us to do whatever it takes to keep Gwen safe." Mason acknowledged.

"Yeah- what if Melissa shows up? She already doesn't like me." Liam points out,

"That's true..." I furrow my eyebrows, rubbing Liam's arm.

Liam raises his eyebrows at me, causing my mouth to form a straight line. "She's got the night shift. She won't be home until four and we'll have this place cleaned up way before then." Mason informed, grabbing the picture-frame from Liam's hand, hanging it crookedly back on the wall.

I narrowed my eyes at the picture, lifting one eyebrow, forcing the frame to straighten itself.

"Scott told us to protect Gwen." Mason continued, grabbing a jar of Mountain Ash from the table beside the front-door. He unscrewed the lid, pouring a clean line of the supernatural-repellent in the doorway. "And putting her in a house lined with Mountain Ash, is a good plan."

"Believe in the plan." Mason added as he closed the front-door, placing the jar back on the table. He went to walk away, but not before patting Liam and I on our shoulders.

"I can't deal with this anymore." I whined, as Liam grabbed my arms, pulling me closer to him.

"Hey, it'll be fine." Liam brushed a strand of hair out of my eyes. "'Believe in the plan'."

A smile formed on my face as I chuckled, placing my hands on the back of Liam's neck. "Okay.." I muttered, as our lips met.

His hands found my waist as we continued kissing before he pulled away, "Where's Gwen?" he questioned,
