Chapter Eight

After I released my grip on Stiles' shirt, we continued walking down the dark tunnel lined with a dirty pair of train-tracks.

"Now what?" I mumbled, as my eyes scanned the familiar echoey tunnel, sending a shiver down my spine.

The boys remained silent as they looked at the vacant tracks in front of us. "This isn't sketchy at all. I mean- look, there's even dried blood on the ground." Stiles announced, leaning down to scrape at the blood, only for it to stain his finger, causing him to gag. "It's not dry..."

"That'd be mine." I rose my hand, frowning.

"Okay, congratulations." Peter erupts, looking over at the creepy kid. "You found another part of the phantom train station."

"Is this the way out?" Stiles' eyebrows furrow as we all continue walking down the tunnel.

"If it was, we would be leaving." Peter bickers.

"You might want to stay off the tracks." the boy speaks up, gaining our attention.

"Why, so my blood doesn't ruin your new sneakers?" I spat. "Look, I came in through this tunnel, okay? But it's just a dead-end. There's nothing here."

"Really?" the boy motioned over to the wall at the end of the tracks. "'Cause that's the way in and out."

Before any of us could argue further, thunder began rumbling around us and horses began faintly neighing in the distance.

"They're coming." the boy concluded.

"Then we gotta go." I started, as Peter and Stiles looked back the way we entered the tunnel. "We'd never make it. C'mon we have to hide."

I immediately took off towards the rusty waiting platform beside the tracks, swinging myself around a pillar, allowing all of the boys to do the same.

As if on cue, three Ghost Riders sprouted out of nowhere, creating their own rift through the wall.

I took in a breath, immediately slamming hand on my own mouth as we all whipped back around the pillar, and the Ghost Riders continued galloping down the tracks straight into the station.

The Riders disappeared from our vision, causing us all to step out of our hiding spots.

"That's the way out?" Peter asserted. "How in the hell are we supposed to do that?"

"We jump." the creepy boy affirmed.

"Jump?" Peter's eyes widened.

"On the back of the riders as they go through." the boy confirmed.

"Is that all?" Peter's voice rose an octave as he stood back in disbelief.

"I've been timing it." the boy avowed, motioning to the tracks. "Look, we can jump from here just before they go out."

"'We'?" I narrowed my eyes, motioning between Peter, Stiles, and myself. "Yeah, I think you're confusing your pronouns, 'cause we aren't gonna do anything. But you should absolutely give that a shot." I nodded.

"Do you not wanna get out of here?" the boy badgered.

"We want to get out alive, okay? How do you know this works? Seems like a lot could go wrong." Stiles acknowledged.

"Look, I can't stay here. I'm losing my mind in this place." the boy barked.

"I think you have an excellent grasp of the situation. I say go for it." Peter shrugged, earning a sure nod from me.
