Hey People! Sorry for the delay, but you know life and stuff. :) Enjoy! -C. Jeffery

RECAP:

I wake up to the sound of my phone ringing, "So I dug my key into the side of his pretty little..." I look over at the clock and it reads 2:33 a.m. I answer the phone because I know it's Tiff and this must be an emergency because she knows better than to call me this late on a weekday.

"Hello?" I answer in my sleep deprived voice.

"Khalissa please come quick. I need you. Mark has been shot."

I ran into the emergency room entrance frantically looking for Tiff. I know I may look like a crazed women running down the hall because I dressed in a rush and didn't have time to fix my hair.

I soon spot a nurse and ask her for the room number of a Mark that has been taken in from a gunshot injury. She looks at me as if I AM a crazed woman, which I can only assume is because there maybe be more than a couple of Marks in this hospital that may or may not have been shot. She quickly shakes her head no and hurries down the corridor in a pace that I am positive is much quicker than the one she was going in before.

I continue my search for Tiff and soon find her and some other people, which I can only assume is Mark's family, huddled in a section of the waiting room.

I race over to Tiff and start bombarding her with questions. "What's going on? Where is Mark? What happened? Is he going to be okay?" I hate to hit her with so many questions but I am a nervous wreck and I don't know what I'll do if he was to be gone. He was like a brother to me.

Tiff glances at me with her eyes full of tears and quickly looks away again before slowly shaking her head no. With this gesture I grab onto her and we both begin to cry our eyes out. I cannot believe this! Mark is gone. This just can't be happening; it can't be true. I cannot begin to fathom what she may be going through over this devastating news. I am heartbroken.

We embrace one another and cry for what seems like an eternity but I'm sure must only be a short while. We are broken from our embrace by the sound of someone clearing their voice. "Is the family of Marcus Thomas present?" Everyone heads shoot up so fast and we race over with the rest of the family to hear from the doctor. I look over at Tiff as we wait for Mark's mom to make it over and I can't help but to be angry with her. How dare she make it seem like Mark was already gone? Well, to plead her case she didn't say that exactly but judging just by her gestures and actions I had no choice but to believe that he was.

Once Geneva, Mark's mom, makes it over the doctor begins to tell us what is going on. "Marcus lost a lot of blood. The bullet punctured his right lung causing it to collapse and another bullet was so near to his heart that we thought that his heart had been hit just by looking at the x-rays. But luckily the bullet in fact did not penetrate the heart. He is badly bruised and in a lot of pain. His recovery time may be extensive but he will make a full recovery because we were able to remove both of the bullets and stop the bleeding before it got uncontrollable."

Everyone thanked the doctor as I let out a breath of relief that I didn't know that I was holding in. Tiff and I embrace each other once again but this time around the tears that we are shedding are those of joy.

"Can we please see him?" I hear Geneva asks the doctor through all the commotion. Everyone looks at the doctor waiting for his response. The doctor pauses for a second as he looks over all of us before he responds, "yes, but only two of you can go in right now because like I said before he's in a lot of pain right now. We have him on a lot of pain meds so he's unconscious at the moment but even though it's after visiting hours it will do him some good to be around loved ones." The vote was unanimous that Tiff and Geneva should be the 2 able to see him.
