Enough

With his head down looking at his feet, Shiro made his way back home through the forest while kicking the variety of sizes and colors of pebbles on the ground.

Disappointed that he has to go home once again, Shiro sighed before looking up at the sky. He always made sure to see the sun move from left to right in the sky the days he skipped class, so he can make it home in time to make it seem like he was in school the whole day.

When the sun moved over to the right in the sky while changing different colors, he knew it was ready to set. Shiro learned that method after thousands of visits to the meadow. It worked for a couple of weeks until his father caught him by the well one night.

Shiro chuckled as he swooped his silver hair out of his face then smirked. A smirk that resembles his father's. That was the day he found out his father truly had a soft side to him on the inside. He could remember that night like it was yesterday.

Shiro had his arms behind his head, legs stretched out wide on the grass, and a big smile on his face as he looked up at the stars in the night sky. He was laying on a hill, watching the fireflies roam around the big meadow.

He had never thought that nature could be so beautiful at night. The bug's yellowish-green colored glowing bottoms matched with the night sky. The sounds of crickets and other bugs were heard in the trees and grass as well.

Listening to all of nature's gifts was so peaceful to Shiro. It calmed him when he was angry, sad, or just needed some time alone. No one would understand his feelings about this meadow and the well that was on it.

Not even his parents.

He turned his body over to face the wall. It was JUST a well. What is so bad about it? What are his parents not telling him? He just doesn't get it. What was so bad about his mom and dad's experience with the well? Why can't adults talk with their children?
It should not be that hard.

He rolled his eyes. Whatever those two are so mad about or scared of, his parents need to get over it because Shiro is not stopping himself from going to the well. Whether they like it or not. And they can't---no, won't stop him.

Shiro got up to walk over to the well. He looked on the inside and saw complete darkness. There were vines and weeds growing around the wood making some of the vines enter inside. He wondered if there was water at the bottom. Being the curious boy he was, he took a rock and threw it inside of the well.

He moved his head, so his ear can be closer to the open space as he waited to hear the sound of the rock hitting the water.

Shiro slowly moved his head back while looking weirdly at the well. Why didn't he hear the rock splash? Or at least hit the ground.

"Shiro!" A very familiar deep voice shouted.

"Uh oh..." Shiro said quietly, he was about to be in big trouble.

"I got your "Uh oh", Shiro! What are you thinking about being here late at night with your mother and me worrying about where you are, if you are safe, hurt, or possibly even worse! Especially near the well!" His father continued to scold him.

"Dad, I'm fine. Nothing is going to happen to me. I'm perfectly safe. See," Shiro motioned to his body. "You and mom worry too much. And what is wrong with the well?" He asked for the thousandth time.
