It's been raining all week long by now. I was started to get annoyed by it but my boyfriend Carlin was there to reassure me. He's a wonderful guy and I always look to him to keep me from going over the edge. At this point, I was ready to go home and see him because he's always there before me.
I began to pack up some of things when Lexa, a co-worker of mine came running over to me. I looked over to see what has her so worked up. She almost looked hysterical in a way that had me so puzzled that I could not put the pieces together. She grabbed me by the shoulders and started shaking me in excitement.
"Gah damn Lexa, what is it? You're making me feel real awkward right about now" I told her calmly and she stopped shaking me.
"Just go see the boss right away, He has something to tell you. Hurry!" She said while pushing me towards the direction of his office.
"What could he possibly have for me?" I asked her but she wouldn't say a word.
"Just go Diana, trust me" She said with a reassuring smile.
I rolled my eyes a bit and shook my head. "Fine. I'll go and see what he has for me. It better be good or you owe me lunch tomorrow" Lexa smiled some more and nodded once again.
I walked down the hallway that led to my bosses office. For some odd reason, I get itmidated whenever I walk this way. He's just not all that friendly but everyone just deals with his ways. He's very arrogant and acts like a pompous asshole which rubs people the wrong way. We had a number of people quit from the style and city departments which kind of messed our magazine up a bit.
My heart began to race as I approached his door. I took a deep breath and opened the door. He turned around to look at me.
"Ahhh just the woman I wanted to see. Come, take a seat" He said while gesturing for me to sit in his tacky leather chairs. I sat down and folded my arms across my chest. I was already not buying whatever he had to tell me. His voice alone is irritating and looking at him just makes it worse for me.
"So what was it that you had for me Mr. Delphine" I said as nice as I could. I was supposed to be on my way home already but instead, this jackass calls me to his office. He walked over to where I was sitting and placed both his hands on my shoulders. My whole body cringed and I wanted to shrug him off but I loved my job to much.
"I called you here because you and the team of people you work with in the Culture department is the best of the best. You know the artist The Weeknd correct?"
I bit my lower lip trying to think. The name rung a bell but I couldn't place a face to the name. Yeah I've only lived in Toronto for about 5 years and I know he's been around for a minute. I wasn't really into the music scene growing up in Nebraska. My family lived out in the middle of nowhere to begin with. I felt socially and emotionally disconnected from the world.
