Sorry for the delay...I have been super busy but finally got it done. I hope you enjoy and I hope you all have a good new years.
The man, whose name was John or better known as Laura’s father, sighed as he looked at the picture of the beautiful blonde girl with blue eyes her hair tied up pig tails as she held onto a popsicle. “Where are you baby girl?” He whispered as he stroked the picture letting a single tear drop fall onto the glass and slide down to the bottom.
“Dad?” There was a knock on the door and the man looked up to see his son walking into the room.
“Derek is everything okay?” He asked quickly trying to wipe away his tears.
“Mom was just curious if you want some soup?”
“No I am not very hungry.”
“Dad…you have not eaten anything for days now just eat a little please.” The man looked at his son seeing sadness in his eyes and such a pleading look on his face that he nodded his head. He placed the frame down on the desk then got up from the seat and followed his son out of the room and the both of them headed into the kitchen.
“The soup was great honey.” Laura’s father said as he placed his bowl into the sink.
“Thank you.” She said softly since her throat has been very dry from crying most of the time. “Have you heard anything yet John?” John only could just shake his head as the woman, also known as Laura’s mother or what others called her was Melanie, sighed as she turned on the water to do the dishes but also a good way to cry without anyone knowing.
“I am going to call Officer Kenton and see if he has any news.” John said to his wife and son who were still in the kitchen just doing busy work. John went into study room and sat in the same spot he has been sitting in for hours every day just looking at pictures of his little who no longer was a little girl but always would be in his heart. He picked up the phone and dialed the number.
“Hello Officer Kenton here.”
“Hi it is John.”
“Hi John.” He said with a sigh. “No news yet but we are not going to stop until your daughter is safe every city and town in this country has your daughter’s picture and description someone is eventually bound to run into her.”
“But what if she is not in the country?”
“It is not possible we put out this alert rather quickly so there is no way whoever took her was able to get her out of the country without being noticed. Do not worry.”
“That is easier said than done.” John mumbled.
“I wish I had better news to tell you.”
“I wish you had better news to tell me too.”
“Once we hear anything you will be the first to know.”
“Thanks.” John hung up the phone and picked up the picture of little girl again he leaned back in the chair and just stared at the picture remembering that day she was safe and happy and now he had no idea where she was if she was safe or happy or even alive.

Derek was leaned against the door frame of his sister’s room seeing the same mess from that day she left in a hurry from work because he turned off her alarm as a joke. He keeps wondering if he had not pulled that prank maybe just maybe she would still be here and if he took a faster time getting to the diner after she called saying she left her keys in the car she would still be here. Derek could not help but blame himself for this happening as much as his little sister annoyed him and he loved to annoy he never wanted anything bad like this to ever happen to her.
“You okay son?” John put his hand on his son’s shoulder as he saw him just look into Laura’s room.
“Yeah I am okay I guess. I just miss her; the house is too quiet without her.”
“I know what you mean it is not the same without her blasting The Jonas Brothers or Maroon 5 from her room and you yelling at her to turn that garbage down.” John and Derek chuckled the first time they had laughed in forever. “We are going to find her and she will be home soon.”
“I hope so dad because I miss her.”
“I know son we all do, but we cannot give up hope not yet.” Derek only just nodded his head he wanted to believe his dad and keep the hope alive but as each day passed with no word hope was slowly dying.

“Derek any word yet?” Josh asked as he walked into the house drenched from head to toe from the rain outside.
“No, nothing yet.” Derek said as they sighed at the same time. Josh was Laura’s boyfriend for about a year now and since that night he has not been able to eat or sleep or anything he has been so worried about her he had no idea where his girlfriend was or who in the hell took her.
“Josh I had no idea you were coming?” Laura’s mother said in a sweet tone and with a smile on her face.
“Yeah well I was on my way back from work so I thought I would stop by to find out any news.”
“There has been nothing yet but why do you not come on in and stay for some dinner.” Josh looked over at Derek for a split second and realized that Laura’s mother needed something to keep herself distracted from no longer crying.
“I would love to stay for dinner.”
“Excellent.” She said with a clap of her hands. “Derek why do you not take him upstairs and give him a towel and some spare clothes so he does not need to stay in these wet clothes.”
“Sure thing mom.” Derek escorted Josh up the stairs as Josh changed in the bathroom Derek stood outside of it.
“How long has she been like this?”
“For a week or so now she used to cry all the time and now she just acts like Laura is on some trip and will be coming home any day now. She keeps herself busy all the time I think trying not to think of the situation so she will not cry. She’s tired of crying she just wants her home.”
“We all do man.” Josh said as he finished putting on the shirt and walked out of the bathroom. “If I ever find the bastard who took her I’ll kill him.”
“I am with you on that but we just got to wait for the police I guess.”
“Screw the police Derek; this is your sister and my girl. I am tired of waiting for people who are supposed to be paid to do find her and have found crap.”
“I get where you are coming from Josh I do and I want her back more than anything but what if we do find her and the guy who took her ends up being some psycho who gets us too then what do we do then instead of my parents have one missing child they will have two and what about your little brothers and your parents.” Josh thought about his twin 10 year old brothers who looked up to Josh for everything, then he thought about how his parents would be just like Laura going crazy wondering where he was.
“We just need to let the police do their job.”
“I guess you are right but I just miss her.”
“I do too.”
“BOYS, DINNER!” Josh and Derek heard from Melanie. They stopped their conversation there and headed downstairs trying to pretend for just a few moments that Laura was not kidnapped but that was not possible at all.
