I walk along the road for three hours. I can keep track of time without flaw. My eyes are still black. I contact them to change back. My skin has turned back to a more golden color, I glow like a goddess in sunlight. My shoulder blades ached. I felt light on my feet, like I could float away if I jumped to high. There was a black ford gt parked along the side of the road. Leaves draped across it like a blanket. I jogged forward towards it. I swiped the leaves away and opened the driver side door, climbing in and sitting on the smooth leather seat. gripping the worn steering wheel. I looked around for keys. Nothing. I climbed out and lifted the hood. The engine shined against the matte black of the car. I pressed my palm against it and it purred to life. In shock, I stood for a moment. Unmoving. Once I came out of my trance I took two short steps and got back into the divers seat. I glanced at my legs. They looked longer. I looked thinner. More muscular. My shoulder blades continued to ache. Like something was tearing through my skin. Again, I gripped the steering wheel, except this time I slammed my foot on the gas.
About two hours later I pull up into the parking lot outside of my old apartments. I slowly stepped out. The building was encased in vines. I fell to my knees. Kai...their gone. I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. I don't know where I got it. But it's there. I pull it out and see a news alert. "Homicidal maniac finally apprehended" then below it, a picture of Kai. No, Kaia. I dropped my phone and I ran. I didn't know where I was going but goddammit I ran. I stopped once I reached downtown. I was standing in front of a large office building. I gripped the stone wall, placing my foot on a small ledge. Then I found another one. And another. I reached a window where a man was working. I cursed under my breath. Clinging tightly to the wall, I prepared to jump. Not down, but up. I kicked off the wall, my arms stretching, reaching for the nearest edge. But instead of missing as I expected, I glided. It was easier than ever to climb. I reached a smoother spot on the wall and hooked my fingers in a crevice, my feet pressed against the flat rough wall. I squeezed my eyes shut, and let go of the wall. Straightening my legs, pushing off of the wall. It worked. I did it again. And again. Eventually I reached the top. I towered over the whole city. I spread my arms wide, a smile taking up my face. "AAAAH!" I screamed. Then it hit me. And idea. A plan. I walked to the edge of the building. My shoulder blades hurt more, and more. Like they were growing, stretching. I jumped. My eyes wide open. I felt the release I didn't know I needed. Wings. They spouted from my back in a flurry of feathers. I glided above the city. My hair and clothes whipping in the wind. I shrieked with joy. I kick my legs as i glide through the air. wobbling, i spiral through the air in sloppy movements. i close my eyes and glide through the air, feeling my clothes snap against my body. then my wings constrict. closing quickly. my eyes snap open. i propel through the air my eyes tearing up as i tear through the air. i rocket into the ground. my eyes wide open.
I roll onto my back. stating straight into the sun. my eyes begin to close. slowly... slowly...
Then I Wake U P.
