I woke up in my bed, covered in sweat. I looked around, glanced at my clock and saw that it was 12:00 A.M.

"Weird," I thought to myself. "It was 12:00 A.M. when I fell asleep..."

I shrugged and grabbed my gray Ray Ban glasses from my bedside table and crawled out of bed to get a glass of water, only to collapse on the ground due to an immense pain in my temples that would radiate throughout my entire skull. It would pulsate, sometimes fading, but then grow stronger and stronger until my vision would become blurry.

I tried to holler to my parents for help, but I couldn't get any words out. I uttered a silent shriek as it felt like my head were about to be ripped apart from the inside out. I crawled over to my mirror to see, to my relief, that my head was still fully intact, and had not, in fact, exploded. I looked at my reflection: my hazel eyes, more green than brown, my medium length auburn hair, my glasses, my freckles, although they were now faded as I grew older. I looked at my plump lower lip and saw that it was swollen; from what, I have no idea.

As soon as my headache had begun, it disappeared.

I slowly got back up and walked to the kitchen to get my water. I turned the faucet on and decided to wash my face off with water. I waited until it was lukewarm and gathered some in my hands, then splashed some onto my face.

I did this a few more times when I noticed the water felt strangely...warmer...than it had previously been; and from the little bit that had gotten into my mouth, it tasted slightly metallic.

I dried my face off on a towel and looked at the faucet and screamed when I saw that it was producing thick, dark blood.

"I must be going crazy!" I thought to myself.

It was when I thought the word "crazy" that I remembered the voice I heard before I woke up: "If you leave the house of madness... I will hunt you down, catch you, and bring you back to insanity."

"What does that even mean?! Who's voice was that? It sounded so familiar..."

"Madisen! Are you okay? We heard you scream!" I heard my parents say from behind me.

I looked at the faucet again and saw that it was not, in fact, producing blood, and shut it off. I shook my head to clear my thoughts and turned around to my parents.

My mom, being shorter than my dad, stood behind him, peering around his torso.

I looked at my mom and took in her appearance: her brown glasses, her short, platinum hair with purple in the bangs, her freckles, and her hazel eyes, barely visible in the late hours of the night, but wide with fear.

I glanced to my father, and saw he was holding his pistol.

"Daddy! Put the gun away! I'm fine! I just...thought I saw someone standing outside, but it was just a tree," I quickly lied, hoping they wouldn't question me.

I heard the safety click back into place and my dad put the gun into his pants pocket.

I also took in my father's appearance: his bald head, his glasses, his mustache, his blue eyes. He was still on high alert even though I tried to reassure him I was okay and it was just a tree that had spooked me.

I used to wonder who I looked like when I was younger, but now the resemblance between my mom and I was uncanny.

My mom looked at me doubtfully before turning around and beginning to walk up the stairs. My dad came over and kissed the top of my head.

"Hurry and get your water, baby. You have school tomorrow and we don't want you complaining about being tired," my dad whispered. I nodded and hugged him before he smiled and walked upstairs with my mom.

I slowly turned back around and closed my eyes before turning the faucet on. I peeked and saw it was draining water, and breathed a sigh of relief. I filled a cup, took a quick drink, and walked slowly back up the stairs.

I trudged into my room, shut the door, and crawled back into bed.

I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep; but not before hearing a whisper, saying,

"s̪̭̱̼̼̉̈́ͪ͋̽̚o͎̜̓̇ͫ̉͊ͨ͊o͎̜̓̇ͫ̉͊ͨ͊n͉̠̙͉̗̺̋̋̔ͧ̊, m̘͈̺̪͓ͩ͂̾ͪ̀̋y͉̝͖̻̯ͮ̒̂ͮ͋ͫͨ l͕͖͉̭̰ͬ̍ͤ͆̊ͨo͎̜̓̇ͫ̉͊ͨ͊v̪̩̜̜̙̜ͨ̽̄e̮̟͈̣̖̰̩̹͈̾ͨ̑͑. o͎̜̓̇ͫ̉͊ͨ͊h͚̖̜̍̃͐, s̪̭̱̼̼̉̈́ͪ͋̽̚o͎̜̓̇ͫ̉͊ͨ͊ s̪̭̱̼̼̉̈́ͪ͋̽̚o͎̜̓̇ͫ̉͊ͨ͊o͎̜̓̇ͫ̉͊ͨ͊n͉̠̙͉̗̺̋̋̔ͧ̊..."
