Warren's POV

I shut my locker and locked it, then slung my bag over my shoulder and headed for the doors. I had a terrible headache ever since lunch with that douche. Adeline's cousin really rubbed me the wrong way, and thank God I don't mean literally. He gave off a very gay vibe which I wasn't against, but I was against considering he was trying to make moves on me the whole time. Adeline just sat there, red in the face, clearly embarrassed by Garrett's actions. I really wanted to punch the idiot in the face but I knew I couldn't. That's Adeline's cousin. I can't hurt anyone she cares about.

I sighed and walked towards the parking lot. I waved goodbye to Will and the rest of the group who was waiting for Stitches to open the doors of the bus. They waved back. I spotted my mother in her usual parking spot, waiting for me to arrive. I smiled and hopped inside the car, making sure to put my seat belt on.

"How was school?" She asked me as she started up the car and began to drive off. I shrugged.

"It was alright, how was work today?"

"Oh you know, still busy as usual. Your father called," I froze and felt my heart race. My father called? It's been months since his last phone call.

"Oh, um what did he say?" I asked, fiddling with the ends of my gloves.

"He wants to speak to you," she said quietly as she began to land on the ground. She continued to drive and I sat there, lost for words. My father wanted to speak to me. What could he want to speak to me about? Everytime he spoke to me before, he would always try to make a plan to get him out of prison. He couldn't count on a 17 year old to bail him out of prison. It was impossible. Everytime I'd reject his plan, he would get angry and not call for weeks. Sometimes months. The last time we spoke we got into a heated argument about him being set free. He was a villain, I knew he couldn't be trusted out in the streets. As much as it hurt me to say, he belonged in prison. That's where villains go.

"So is your girlfriend coming to visit today?" She asked as we arrived at the restaurant. I smiled and rolled my eyes.

"She's not my girlfriend mother, and no she's not coming today. At least I don't think. I'm sure she will be busy with her own things," I answered, making my way inside the building. I set my bag down on one of the chairs and sat down in a booth, blowing out a sigh. Today has been a long day. I would take a nap but rules are rules. Once school is over, it's time for work.

"I'll fix you a plate," my mother said as she walked back into the kitchen. I felt my phone ring. I pulled it out of my pocket and answered without looking at the caller ID.

"Hello?"

"Hiya hot head!" I smiled, immediately recognizing the sweet bubbly beautiful voice.

"Hey pinky, how's it goin?" She laughed softly.

"Good good, um I was just calling to apologize for Garrett's behavior. He's not usually that douchey.. actually no, he's ALWAYS that douchey and I apologize. No one can control that kid," I smiled.

"Don't worry about it, it's all good," not.

"I know you Warren, I know when you lie. It's fine to be uncomfortable ya know. I was," she commented. I laughed.

"Alright well I won't lie, he did make me feel uncomfortable at times but I know he means well I guess," she sighed.

"Yeah I guess so," there was a moment of silence. It wasn't an awkward silence, it was a comforting silence. I loved being on the phone with her. Sometimes we fall asleep on the phone without realizing it till morning. It's one of the best things ever.
