Nora was walking through the woods near their camp, humming to herself. She needed some alone time ever since that village, and Ren had made her take Magnhild with her just in case.
Suddenly, a voice hissed through the trees, smooth and calm. "Nora Valkyrie." She spun around, touching her hand to her hammer cautiously. The voice chuckled. "There is no need to be afraid, child. May I come into your view?"
Nora nodded, stepping back and relaxing her hand. "Who are you?"
A shape detached itself from the shadows of the trees, and stepped into the light. Nora gasped as she saw a woman standing there in a black dress, her white hair pinned up in a bun with several snake-like tendrils sticking out, wrapped in black ribbon. Red lines covered her exposed skin, which was white like her hair. Her eyes flashed a soft red. "There is no need to worry about my appearance, child. I am the Lady Salem."
Nora's muscles tensed. "Why are you here?"
Salem laughed. "I am not here to hurt you, Nora. I am merely here to bring you a message."
The redheaded girl tilted her head. "What message? From who?"
Salem smiled, extending a hand. "I am able to contact the deceased, Nora Valkyrie."
Nora's eyes widened as the full meaning of that sentence dawned on her. "You...can talk to my parents then, can't you?"
The jewels hanging from the ribbons in Salem's hair clinked together as she turned her head. "Yes, child. I have spoken to them often. I can provide you with contact, but not here. We must go to my domain to access my powers."
Nora looked back in the direction of camp. "I want to...but I can't leave my friends."
Salem's eyes flashed bright red, but she smiled calmly. "My domain is easy to access. You will be back here before you know it. Your friends, especially Lie Ren, will not awaken until after you have returned."
"Okay...I guess a couple minutes won't hurt them." Nora responded, taking Salem's hand. It felt cold, but warm at the same time, which slightly unnerved the girl. Salem's eyes flashed black, and Nora's eyes closed. She felt a tugging sensation on her stomach, pulling her back to the forest. Salem's voice snapped her eyes open. "Your semblance and your connection to your team is preventing you from accessing my domain, child."
They were floating in between the forest and a dark area, which Nora guessed was Salem's domain. "What do you mean?" Salem withdrew her hand, sending both of them back into the forest. The woman looked at Nora with- pride? Nora couldn't tell, but she asked the question again. "What do you mean, my bond with my team?"
Salem sighed. "I have no semblance, so I am able to access this plane. You, however, not only have a powerful semblance, but you have formed a bond with your friends, Ruby Rose, Jaune Arc, and most importantly, Lie Ren." She put a hand to her chin, apparently thinking. "I could help you nullify this bond long enough for you to talk to your parents, but I will need your consent."
Nora's eyebrows furrowed. "I..."
"It appears you have a choice to make, Nora Valkyrie. You can join me and talk to your parents, or go back to your friends and never have this choice again."
Hi! So, um, deception in this one and the next one. I think we can all agree that Salem is a snake. :( Poor Nora is bound to her team, but will she give that up for her parents?
