This x Reader is platonic, so you will only become buddies with Hanzo. I'm sure there'll be a romantic one in the future! Again there was no specified gender, so this one will be gender neutral :)
Apologies it took so long - Been really busy as of late.

Enjoy!

You watched as the archer pulled out, drew and notched an arrow, his gaze locked unwavering upon the target before him. He drew his arm backwards, the string stretching until it was taut, before letting his grip go and the arrow snapped forwards with a dignified whizz. It landed upon the bulls-eye with a heavy thwack, and before you could register any further movement, he had drawn and notched another arrow. The man had always been stoic and ever since you had joined Overwatch he had captivated you with a regal air about him. You did not know too much aside from the odd fact from Genji, however the cyborg had always insisted that Hanzo, who was his brother, would have his head (again) if he revealed anything personal without permission. Hanzo, however, never noticed you. Like most people in Overwatch, he did not even bat an eyelid in your general direction. As a matter of fact, he still hadn't noticed you as you walked into the training room and leaned against a stack of crates silently. As you watched the muscles in his back strain with effort, you wondered how often he came here and how often he had trained to reach this level or archery. With another thwack the arrow was projected forwards and split the previous one in two; another direct hit.
"Did your Elders not tell you it is rude to stare?" The sharp voice cut through you like a knife, surprise grasping your senses. Hanzo had turned his head slightly, a singular dark eye on you and he appeared rather snake-like. His bow had lowered in his hand and his other arm was at his side - his focus was entirely on you.
"Forgive me," You said suddenly, realising you had let the silence hang in the air between you. "I came here to train, but I can't help but marvel at how good a marksman you are." You paused before adding with a nervous laugh; "I haven't seen such skill in a while." Hanzo eyed you carefully before grunting, lifting his chin as he did so. He lifted an arm to draw another arrow.
"I appreciate your compliment." He said with a surprisingly gentle tone as he turned away again. Your gaze trailed away momentarily, and you gazed at your [Weapon] before heaving a sigh. A sharp noise told you the arrow hit the target again, and you heard movement so you looked back up to see the archer had turned towards you. You cocked an eyebrow before Hanzo begrudgingly held out the bow to you.
"I am willing to show you, if you would like." He murmured, seemingly uncomfortable but his offer was genuine. You nodded, gently taking hold of the bow and running your fingers along it carefully, fully aware  how closely he was staring at you, as though he were afraid you would snap it in half.
"It's lovely," You spoke barely audibly. "It's so well made..." Hanzo's lips twitched in what could have been a smile, but he swiftly caught himself and remained as stoic as usual.
"It is," He agreed, his gaze locked intensely on his bow as you held it, as though you were going to drop it at any given moment. "I received it from my ancestors when I was a boy." You furrowed your brows and looked up at the marksman with confusion.
"Genji said you both were swordsmen." At your words, Hanzo took his bow back and turned away to lie it atop a stack of crates before resting a palm against one. His movement surprised you and you stepped backwards a little, knowing full well this man could crush you within one hand if he so desired.
"Genji speaks little, but too much simultaneously." Hanzo sighed, his brows knotting together in frustration. "He always was a pain for revealing our secrets." You were silent for a moment before you finally built up the courage to speak.
"What made you stop using the sword?"
"The katana." Hanzo murmured whimsically. "Yes, a type of sword but ours were unique." You thought he was going to avoid your question before he turned and sat upon a stool nearby. "I... turned to the bow for it was the katana that I used to try and kill my brother." He looked as though he were uncertain why he was sharing his history with you, yet he closed his eyes with a sigh and continued nonetheless. "I could not keep using the katana from then for it was... tainted. I turned to my bow and it has not failed me since. When you strike from the heart, you will never miss." He ran a half along the wood of the bow, a far away, wistful look in his gaze. "Ever since that day I have tried to redeem myself through doing what I believe is right, but it is difficult when the ghost of my past haunts me in these very halls." He looked up to meet your gaze, semi-surprised you weren't horrified by his story but he simply furrowed his brows and turned away again, picking up his bow and drawing another arrow from his quiver. You stepped closer as he began to fire arrows again, feeling less threatened now he was a little distracted.
"If you believe in your bow," He murmured, pulling the arrow back. "It will never miss." You watched as he turned his gaze to you and let the string snap forwards without looking, the arrow seemingly flying in slow motion before hitting the bullseye, a small smirk appearing on the mans face before he started to walk toward the target. Hanzo began to pull each arrow out of the target and you watched on with fascination.
"How do you do that?" You asked finally as he began to walk back towards you. Hanzo arched an eyebrow.
"Do what?"
"Hit the target without looking?" You prompted as he blinked with confusion.
"I have already told you." He replied, putting the bow in your hands and pulling up the arm with the bow in it. "You must believe in the bow, picture what you want to hit in your mind, and you will never fail." He placed an arrow in your other hand gently and you notched it, pulling it backwards with the string. You inhaled and exhaled, glancing at Hanzo who nodded at you before fixing your attention onto the bullseye of the target and closing your eyes, picturing it within your mind. With a whizz, you let the arrow fly forwards and when you opened your eyes again Hanzo was grinning for once, his arms crossed as he stared at the target. You had hit it right in the middle. Hanzos words had resonated with you and you turned to him to grin in response. He put a hand on your shoulder and gently took the bow from your grasp before walking away.
"Come, let us get something for lunch. I will show you more later." You left the training room side by side, leaving your one arrow embedded in the bullseye of the target.
