Chapter 2: When Did It Go Wrong?

Today is the day that my life will be ruined. It was 6:45 a.m. and I just got a text from my one and only friend. Her name is Jessica. She and me have been as close as anyone could be for as long as I remember. We have our ups and downs, but we get over it and stay friends.

Oh great, whenever Jessica brings me breakfast and juicy details, something is either wrong or she has a very bad situation. I hope it's something awesome for once. Like a new horror film came out or my favorite author wrote a new book. Nothing EVER happens that affects me, well that's good anyways.

The door bell rang and I went to get it, but Jessica just let herself in. She had a huge smile on her face. "You are not going to believe what Jake said about you!" Oh great, Jake is my crush. I have liked him for what seems like forever. I wonder what he said that got Jessica all riled up. "He said that you were really pretty and nice and that, brace yourself, he's gonna ask you out!!! EEEK!!!!! Can you believe it Annie? A boy, no not just any boy, JAKE is going to ask you, Annie Marcell out!!!" She screamed that last part out and my mom came rushing in.

She stopped to catch her breath then said," A boy is asking Annie to be his girl friend? Who? What's his name? Is he in her grade? Is he a good boy or a bad boy? Does he have piercings, tattoos, or does he smoke or do drugs?!" she said so many questions I lost track. But Jessica didn't.

"Yes, Jake Martin, yes, good boy, no piercings, tattoos, doesn't smoke or take drugs." She smiled satisfied that she remembered all of that. I was still confused about all that just happened, but everyone else was caught up so I just went along.

"Do you know when he's going to ask me? Because if it's tomorrow I'm not prepared." I don't have any 'cute' clothes, no make up, none of the beauty products. I'm pretty much just a natural kind of girl.

"He's coming right now, actually. He said about 7:00." She looked at her watch and gasped," It's 6:43! We need to hurry!" she took my arm and ran upstairs. I trailed behind her tripping over my own feet.

She did my hair and make up and put me in a fancy blouse and tight jeans. We just finished when the doorbell rang. Jake was here. My dreams were about to come true!

I ran downstairs and opened the door. Jake was standing there with papers. "Hey Annie, I had a problem with my homework could you help me?" I stared at him with a blank expression. I processed everything in my head. Trying to say something. "Annie? Will you please help me? I am stuck on this last problem."

"Jake, I don't think I can help you. I just need to leave now. See you at school. Remember we have a big biology test tomorrow." I turned around and he noticed my attire.

"You look good tonight. Going somewhere special?" I was surprised he complimented me. Especially since he had me do all the work in biology. We are biology partners.

"Actually Jessica, my mom and I are going to the mall and a nice dinner. It's my thanks to them for being NICE to me." I looked at him with a snobby face. He has never been nice to me. He makes me do our work, he makes me give him lunch money, he makes me pretend I don't even know him. I don't know why I like him now that I think about it. Since I'm thinking I'm not going to like him anymore.

"Oh and your girl friend is in your car. You know, Kayla. Why don't you go cry to her. Since I do most of our biology work! I help you all the time an all you want to talk to me about is homework?! How you can't finish that last problem. Well I have solved my problem, my problem was you. But not anymore, from now on I'm not doing all the work. I'm not doing all your homework. So go find a tutor or something!"

He looked at me with his dark green eyes. He was tearing up so he turned around and ran to his car. Kayla tried to say something to him, but he didn't listen. He just drove away and never came back to me. Never asked for anything else. Never made me do all of the work.

Well, that's what I hoped he would do. Now isn't the time to mope. I said I would take Jessica and mom on a nice evening and we did just that.

Until Jake showed up at the mall. He walked up to me and slapped me across the face. He yelled at me and made everyone look our way. I yelled back half crying. There was a mark on my face, but it didn't matter. I have been hurt before. Not physically, but mentally. And he has pushed the last straw.

He pushed me down and Jessica came and jumped on him. Hitting him with her purse. He finally got up and ran out crying and yelling. But I didn't care. At least I thought I didn't care.

I held my hand to my face were he hit me and cried. We left the mall and when we got home, Jessica and I were looking at videos on YouTube when a new video popped up. The video was called:

TEEN HITS GIRL AND FLIPS OUT!

We clicked on it and saw me being yelled at and slapped. Then we saw Jessica jump on Jake and attack him.

The next day was going to be horrible. This was totally going to change my life. It ruined my life! Usually at school no one notices me, but now people will judge me and make fun of me. I would rather be unknown than to be bullied.
