Chapter 4: Embarrassment & Change

As soon as I walked into my class a round of applause broke out. My cheeks turned bright red. I was so embarrassed. I went to my seat.

Along the way boys smacked my butt and girls pulled my hair. Oh crap! I forgot that Jake was in my class. And I sit right next to him.

Some girls got out their phones and were taking pictures of us and saying, "awww! Cutest couple award!" they smirked at me and I gave them a dirty look.

"Look, we're not a couple and we never will be. Sorry to disappoint you, but you now it will never happen. So just get away from me and leave me alone!" I got up and asked the teacher if I could go to the restroom.

On my way to the bathroom I stopped at my locker. I looked in my mirror and thought to myself, I could be beautiful if I tried. I could look just like the other girls in my school.

Why don't I try? I don't even know how to answer that question.

I closed my locker and went back to class. I just put my head down and walked to back seat. The rest of class I just did work and didn't talk, like usual.

I have decided to become more than a geek. I will be one of the PPP, Pretty, Popular, People!

I have to start fresh. Make a whole new look for Annie Marcell! I decided to go shopping for clothes, makeup, and shoes. That's what the PPP wear. So that's what I will wear!

The next day I walked in and the PPP's jaws dropped. I strutted in and sat on my desk. No binder, books, folders. None of my class work. I felt like a rebel!

"Whoa baby!" Jake yelled across the room. He ran up to me and put his arm around my waist almost touching my butt. He pulled me closer to him and whispered in my ear," how about you and me hang out tonight?"

I knew it was wrong to say yes, but I wanted to prove to the PPP that I could be popular and have a hot boyfriend.

"Why not babe. How about you pick me up at 6:30? Okay? Good!" I grabbed his other hand and held it. I got to say, it did feel good!

"Deal." He whispered in my ear and his breath sent chills down my back.

I went home to get ready and I saw Jessica's car in my driveway.

We didn't make up or anything so I don't know why she's here. Maybe she realized she was a total jerk and came to apologize.

I walked in the door and my mom an Jessica were talking. They were whispering so I couldn't hear them. Jessica saw me walk in and said," well, I better go. Big test tomorrow. Bye" then she left and drove away.

I wasn't really interested in what they were talking about so I just went upstairs and locked myself in my room.

I quickly browsed my new clothes and picked out an outfit for tonight. I went with a mini skirt, tight strapless shirt, and wedges.

I changed and did my make up and heard the doorbell. I ran downstairs before my mom could see who it was.

"Mom I'm going out for a bit. Is that alright?"

"Yes."

I shut the door and waited to get in Jakes car before I talked. "So, all of the sudden you want to date me. No apology. No sorry? Nothing? Because last time I saw you was when you slapped me! I can't-" he cut me off with a long, perfect, wonderful kiss. I looked at him and his eyes were the brightest blue.

"I'm sorry. Just with everything that happened. I don't know what got in to me. I'm so sorry." He looked at me with a puppy face and I gave in.

"Okay, now, where are we going?"

"It's a surprise!" he slammed the gas and sped off.

I tightened my grip and closed my eyes. "Slow down!" and he did.
