"Find them, please. Find them," a young, familiar voice urged me.

My head was killing me as I woke up. It took me a moment to realize where I was. I was lying on the ground, y head resting on a wolf's paw as its other lay across my chest. The warm mass of dark black, soft fur curled around me was sleeping peacefully.

I turned my head to the side searching for my brother. I found him seated not far from us staring at the stars. MY movement caused the wolf to stir and lift its head to look at me. The look in the wolfs eye told me that he was the smaller of the two I met earlier. Only then did it cross my mind that his energy didn't pain me like any other living creature did, in fact it comforted me.

"You used too much energy, Tan. Get some rest," the young wolf said. I didn't need to be told twice.

In an omniscient point of view I saw a young girl I recognized as myself, play with a young boy I recognized as Thomas. There was a solid black wolf pup curled up under a tree nearby. There was a barn in the background, but not too far away, that was hiding a little house. This was a memory of my childhood and not a good one.

"Ky-ky! Sleepy head come play with us," young me called to the wolf. Kyle, the wolf, lifted his head, looked at the girl, then laid back down.

"Come on, Ky-ky! Come play!" The wolf shifted slightly but stayed asleep. Young me walked over to try and wake him up. When she got closer, just a few feet away, Kyle pounced.

"I am Kyle, future lone wolf, fearless companion and slayer of the terrible Tanis beast. I shall now go back to resting in the shade," Kyle proclaimed with his paws on young me's chest before getting off and going back to lie under the tree.

Young me got up giggling. She walked over to Kyle only for a much larger wolf with rusty fur to jump in her way. Another wolf with the same color fur jumped out and grabbed Kyle by the scruff of his neck.

Even in the dream I could feel the cord that connected me and Kyle stretch, pull tight, and snap as the two wolfs ran off with him. A tear escaped my eye as I turned away from my memory. The wolf that I woke up with was standing behind me.

"Long time no see, Ky-ky," I whispered.

"You too, Tan, you too. How long?"

Right be for I passed out while trying to leave and then again when you called me 'Tan'. That's when I knew it was you, Kyle."

'I went back, you know. After I explained to my brothers they tried running me off, called me a traitor. It's not like I needed much persuasion to run, though, I wanted to get back to you. But when I got there you were gone. What happened?"

I rather not talk about it. Let's talk about the time we met, how we so quickly got attached to each other and how long it was until your brothers found you. Let's talk about how you've been how you got back to your pack, and what's been up with the forest since I've been gone, please."

"The first time we met, you had gotten yourself lost in the woods. My parents always told us to stay away from humans but you were too young to be all that bad, right? I had to help you find your way home. It was only after you started talking to the horses that I realized you could understand me," Kyle chuckled at the memory.

"In the months it took for my family to find me we got close. I became your companion, tied to you always. We learned we could talk telepathically. We had a lot of fun. Then I got taken back and ran away. When I got to where you should have been the only thing that was left was a burnt down building and some men pointing a gun at me.
