"Hey Maka."
Maka glances up from her locker to see Black*Star looking at her. She mentally sighs as she goes back to putting her books away.
"Hey Black*Star."
She can already tell that he's grinning like an idiot.
"So I heard about what Wes tried to do to you."
Maka freezes. He's kidding right? She very slowly looks at him, her expression carefully guarded.
"And what exactly did you hear?"
Black*Star leans against the lockers, studying Maka. He has an uncharacteristic serious expression defining his features, shocking Maka almost as much as his words had.
"That he and Arachne tried to kidnap you or something like that. What a doosh huh?"
Maka doesn't respond. She didn't know what to say to that. How does Black*Star even know about what happened last week? The gears start turning in her head as the shock begins to wear off.
"Where did you pick up that piece of information?"
"Oh c'mon Maka. Me and Soul are best friends. Don't insult me."
Maka closes her eyes for a brief moment as she closes her locker door. The 2 minute bell rings and Maka uses that as her escape.
"I have to go otherwise I'm going to be late. Bye."
She hurries to class, Black*Star's 'later' following her down the hall. Maka didn't know why, but Black*Star talking to her really freaked her out. And why would Soul tell Black*Star? Maka shakes her head, utterly confused. The bell rings, bringing Maka's thoughts to a halt as the teacher begins the lesson.

"Dude, what were you talking to Maka about?"
Black*Star looks up at Soul, his usual goofy grin in place.
"I was just saying hi."
Soul scoffs at him.
"I thought you didn't like Maka."
"You don't have to like someone to just say hi to them."
Soul rolls his eyes and sighs as he sits down. Sometimes he just didn't get Black*Star. Black*Star changes the topic and they chat through class, ignoring the dirty looks their teacher was shooting them. Halfway through class there was a commotion outside in the hall. The kids jump from their seats and rush the door, all of them wanting to get a good look. Soul and Black*Star push their way to the front of the small crowd, ignoring the annoyed looks they were given. Out in the hall a fight was occurring between two girls. Soul couldn't tell who was who, but he cheered and booed along with the rest of the crowd. Two teachers pull them apart and drag them off, the others disrupting the crowd that had gathered. Once back in the classroom, the students were reprimand for acting childish. Not that anyone was paying attention. They were all talking about the fight. Black*Star nudges Soul, grinning like an idiot.
"Who do you think got their ass kicked?"
Soul shrugs as he thinks about it.
"I don't think either of them got hurt too bad. They weren't fighting that long."
"I know. What a disappointment."
Soul chuckles and they start talking about the party they have planned for later that night as they and everyone else waits for the bell that signals the end of the day. The bell rings and everyone rushes out the door, all of them ready for the weekend. Soul and Black*Star roughhouse all the way to Black*Star's place, Black*Star showing off to Tsubaki and the few other girls that were walking with them. Soul's phone buzzes in his pocket, but he doesn't realize it as he and Black*Star are trying to outdo each other.
