When the words "I love you" are leaving your lips less and less frequently, it leaves mine more and more often.
When the words "I love you" are met by your ears, it acts as a reminder that you're supposed to love me back.
But it's not real, it hasn't been real for a while.
I love you becomes less and less meaningful until they lose its origin, its purpose, its meaning.
Until the phrase becomes a source of reassurance for me and a getaway card for you.
Until the phrase becomes a reassurance that you're still mine, and always going to be mine.
Even if it's not true.
When you force the words out of your mouth, it's a false hope that maybe everything will be okay.
Even if it won't be.
