Walk with me

Chapter

The golden sun creeps in my window as I wake from what seems like forever. It's 9:30am and  I can not believe the state my hair is in, it looks like I stuck my finger in a socket and stepped in water! I take a deep breath and I sit up on my bed and stretch. I think I pulled something because my ......... Well, everything hurts! I think it has to do with that party last night. I still can not believe that Stacy threw that surprise party for my twentieth birthday! I'm on my way to hit the shower when the phone rings. "Hello?"  I ask half yawning. "hey birthday girl!" A familiar friendly and kind voice talks on the other end. "hey Michael! Did you like the party?" "are you kidding!? it was EPIC!!!! So here's the deal, I'm taking you on an awesome ride to Mc. Donald's and then we are going to watch the wizard of oz! because we can sound good?" I can't help but laugh at him because this is our annual thing we did this ever since we met.
      It was about fifteen years ago we were both five and I just moved to South Carolina. I was so shy back then but that's when I met Michael Thorn. He was living right next to me and one day I went out to get the mail and he came over to me and started talking to me like he knew me but something so amazing happened I talked to him to! I never talked to anyone back then except my mom and dad. About nine years later it was July 18 my birthday! So me and Michael went to Mc.Donald's and on our way back we saw this lake, it was so sparkly and blue and it was so warm out that well I jumped in clothes and all and it was great the cooling water was so refreshing and mystical. The next thing I know I grabbed Michael's arm and hauled him in with me and we must have been in there about six hours. And then we headed home the sun was setting and the gold sun was shining on his silky brown hair and those magical blue eyes. I can honestly say that's when I fell in love with him but I never told him. When we went home we ended up watching the wizard of oz!
        "Sounds good to me and I have a question can we visit the lake?"
"The lake we went to when we were fourteen? Um sure but can I ask why?" " no" I reply with a little more anger then I meant to. " I mean no not yet not until we get there." After all these years I wanted to tell him how I felt about him and I wanted to do it at that lake the place I realized I loved him. "Um ok sounds cool so what time do you want me to pick you up?" "And lunch time so we can take our food with us because it is a seven hour drive and I want to get there for the sunset" "ok sounds cool so meet you at you house in three hours. Be ready" I will" I reply half laughing because I'm always late. "You better be Kelly  Anyway I have to get ready see you in a bit" " bye Mich."I say sweetly and the phone clicks. It's 10:00 I can't believe we talked for a half an hour. Oh well Now I can take that shower.
           Three hours later I hear a knock at the door. That must be Michael. I hope he likes my outfit I straightened my long dark brow hair witch goes to my waist and I'm wearing my torn blue skinny jeans with the silk light blue top he bought me for my birthday and my blue flip flops.
    I get the door and there's that built tanned body in his normal jeans and tee shirt and sneakers. But I live that look.
         "Hey! Your wearing the shirt I gave you it looks great on you then again anything does" he says happily. "Thanks and yeah I really like this shirt" he smiles. "So you ready short stuff?" He says with a grin. I'm only 5ft 4 and he's 6ft but he still teases me. "Yeah I'm ready" I say punching him the arm while laughing.
      We get into the car and drive to Mc. Donald's and we both get a double cheese burger meal to go and we drive out to South Carolina to our lake.
     We sit on a blanket on the grass witch overlooks the lake witch is surrounded with trees it's still as beautiful as the first time I seen it.
     I'm sitting next to Michael and he breaks the silence. "So what did you want to talk about?" Well it's now or never. I know he's looking at me but I'm looking at the lake while fiddling with grass witch is as green as grapes. "Remember the last time we were here and we jumped in the lake and when we got out I was starring at you and you wanted to know why?" "Yeah you told me I had something in my hair" I started to blush because I know he knows that that's not why I was staring at him. "Well you didn't I was admiring the way you looked in the sun I know this might sound weird but I----" I was cut off bye him kissing me. It was so perfect those soft lips on mine I couldn't help but kiss him back. He finally backed up and still holding my face he said " I have loved you ever since that day too but I thought you just liked me as a friend so I never said anything" I was so surprised bye those words that I found myself kissing him. It went on for about five minutes. Best birthday ever!
      After we were done kissing we went in the lake I felt so happy and nervous at the sand time I swear I just ate a bowl of butterfly's! So the water was cooling and refreshing. Next thing I know I'm being hugged from behind and it's a good thing that the waters shallow or else we'd be drowning. I hugged him back and we just stood there watching the sun sink into the trees.
        A half an hour later we are walking back to the car and I suddenly felt dizzy. I leaned against a tree while holding my head. "Kelly are you ok?" He sounds so worried. "Yeah just a little headache that's all" I force a smile and walk up next to him he don't look to convinced. "Alright" about five minutes later it happened again except worse I fell on the ground. "KELLY!" Now he's running back to me and suddenly everything goes black.
          Next thing I know I'm in the hospital and I'm mute and I can't open my eyes the nurse is talking to Michael and I know by the tone of his voice he's going crazy. "Please you have to tell me what's wrong with her!!!" He spuds so scared and worried. "Please mister thorn we are trying our best to find out what's wrong with her. The test results should be back in an hour or so." She's really trying to calm him down.
          I must have passed out again because I wake up eyes open and all to Michael sitting in the chair and he notices I'm up. " Kelly your alright!" He comes over and kisses me so much I can't breath. I lightly push him back. " yeah while I'm alive can you let me breath?" I'm laughing and I see he's smiling and he sits back down but closer to me because the nurse came in. " hello ms. Kelly Collins , mr Michael thorn. I'm here about your test results." Me and Michael look at each other and back at the nurse. "From our cat scan we...." She looks upset and stops. "Well tell us" Michael is getting impatient. " Michael please calm down I'm sure whatever it is we can get through it." I smile and we look back at the nurse. "I'm so sorry to be the one to inform you about this but Kelly ....." There's a long pause and then she says.
           "You have brain cancer"
