"I'm not very good at grammar"

Okay, this might be my biggest pet-peeve EVER. This is another Wattpad related rant, so here goes it.

When someone writes and publishes something (especially when thy rite like dis) and they have their grammar corrected, rather than saying, "Oh, I'll go correct that," or, "thanks I'll look out for that in the future" or whatever appropriate response there is they say, "I'm not very good at grammar." (Only, usually it looks like, "im not very good @ grammer") There's no apology made. No acknowledgment of what was said. No correcting themselves. Just stating the obvious, as though that's some kind of excuse for having shitty grammar!

There is nothing worse than trying to read a story full of grammatical mistakes. In fact, I'll go so far to say that if there are any more grammatical errors beyond the occasional typo, I CAN NOT enjoy your story, no matter how clever and unique and amazing it may be. If there are errors, they're all I can focus on. It makes it seem like it was written by an immature 10 year old and it annoys the hell out of me.

I understand not knowing the intricities of commas or English's ridiculous rules. It's hard and confusing and I'm sure I've made some errors in this rant as it is. But it's going to annoy me when they're excessive OR you make up excuses for why it's okay. "I'm not good at grammar." Then get good at grammar! If you don't know a rule, look it up. You have the entire internet at your fingertips. I can't tell you how many times when I'm writing that I have to pause and think, "If I put a comma there will it be seperating clauses or commiting comma splice? I feel like it needs a comma but the more I look at the more I think that they don't need to be seperated..." And I use that example because, look through anything I write, and you'll find that I am a frequent abuser of the comma. There is comma splice EVERYWHERE. But, I try to catch myself and learn. Or if I'm not sure on a rule, I LOOK IT UP.

The ONLY excuse for bad grammar is if you're not a native English speaker. There are no other languages that I even know close to well enough to be able to write an entire story in the language, let alone with flawless grammar, so if you're not a native English speaker and you write stories in English, a language with absolutely ridiculous grammar rules, you have my utmost respect. Seriously. That's amazing to me. However, that being said, if you don't speak very fluant English, you can still find an editor and ask them to just look at grammar and spelling and fix errors. Hell, I will personally do that for you if you need!

.... okay, now I'm gonna go and pray I didn't make many grammatical errors in this so I don't look like the biggest douche ever XD
