I'm Elizabeth, I'm 17 years old and I'm not getting any younger. My mom and dad divorced when I was 8 and I've been living, with my mom and her, new found, boyfriend, in L.A. ever since. I have a younger brother, Zack, who is only 5. I also have a twin brother Eli, who when we were 14 decided he was going to go live with our dad. Since now he's old enough to go his own way, he moved out and I have no idea where he is. I haven't been back to visit my dad in a few years and my mom and her boyfriend are going on this spontaneous road trip. So I have decided to go back to my birth town Forks, Washington to stay with my dad for a while.

Walking through the airport in Washington, I flick through piles of unfamiliar faces, only to see my dad in the distance, holding a card with 'Liz Johnson :)' written on it. I've missed him so much. As soon as he sees me a smile plants itself on his lips. I run, pushing through groups of people just to hug him, instantly, I feel so safe.
"I've missed you kiddo" he chimed with contained excitement.
"I've missed you too dad" my giggling response sends tears to his wise eyes.
The drive to my childhood house has been peaceful, there was small talk but not much more. Forks welcomed me with a day of rain, back home, we don't get this kind of weather. I'm definitely going to miss the heat however, here it's usually in the teens but back in L.A., it's always in the thirties. Finally we get back to the house. I walked into my old room, it brought back so many memories. The walls are still grey and the posters I put up the last time I was here, claim their spaces.
"Hey, I bought new sheets for the bed, their purple. You like purple don't you?" Dad questioned quickly.
"Yeah, uh purple is okay" I mumbled, fumbling with the lock on my suitcase.
"Good, I'll leave you to settle down and unpack. We're going out to your favourite diner at six" he smiled before leaving.
After unpacking, I'm going to attempt to make the idle room look more 'the new me'. I've changed a lot since the last time I'd visited.

"Can I have the classic beef burger?" I asked, smiling at the waitress.
"Of course Liz, what drink can I get you Sweetie?" She questions, Mary used to serve us, way before the family fell apart, she's bound to see how my fathers mood has shifted since then.
"Uh, I'll just have a water please Mary." I smile at her as my dad orders. I must say, this place hasn't changed one bit. It still holds all the happy family memories, but the diner has also captured the worst.
After catching up, compensating for all the lost years, we head home.
I say goodnight to my dad, seeing how happy he is to have the company of his favourite daughter. Falling into bed, my mind plummets back to reality. The panic starts to kick in.
I start school tomorrow. Shit.
