Thy Kingdom Come

Prologue

"Once upon a time there lived a king and a queen who ruled peacefully over their kingdom,"

"Boring. Mommy, tell me a real story!"

The mother looked down upon her child and smiled warmly. The wrinkles in her skin showing even more at the corners of her mouth. She brushed a lock of caramel hair behind her daughters ear.

"This is a real story though. This really happened a long time ago. Just before you were born."

"Yeah, but it still sounds boring," she frowned.

The mother waved a crooked finger in the air, "Ah, but what you didn't know is that this was a magic kingdom,"her daughter leaned in with wide eyes.

"Really?"she said with awe.

"Really. The king loved his queen very much and was overjoyed when he found out his queen was having a baby. The kingdom was blessed with a baby girl as their princess. The princess was kind, and had the rarest of beauty. She had magic ability's beyond our comprehension, but at such a young age she was unable to control them."

" There were bad people who wanted to use her powers for their own selfish reasons. Rumor had it whoever killed the princess will be given her magic powers. Therefore, one night while the king and queen slept kidnappers came to take the princess away. The king and Queen heard her scream and they immediately ran to her room. The kidnappers outnumbered the king and queen and made the princess watch her parents death."

"But-why? Why would they make her watch?"

The mother hummed in thought," Perhaps to show her what they would do to her if she did not cooperate."

"No one is quite sure what happened to the princess after that. Some say they killed her. Others say she ran away and shes still out there."

"What do you believe mommy?"

"I would like to believe she is still out there. Waiting for her moment. Getting stronger every day so that one day she can bring the lost kingdom peace and unity among our lands."

"Wait, what happened to the lost kingdom if there is no king and queen to rule it?"

"King Malachi watches over their land. However, the people of the lost kingdom feel that he is unfit for ruling. That he does not understand their people and their abilities. It also doesn't help the fact that his own kingdom refuses to be associated with the lost kingdom."

"Why?"

"I think they are scared, because we do not understand their magic abilities. I think we are afraid of what they can do."

Her daughter nods her head in deep thought.

"The king hopes that one day he can find the lost princess and unite the kingdoms one day, but I fear he loses hope everyday. After 10 years one does become discouraged. I do not think he will give up on his search though. He does owe it to the king and Queen. They saved his life."

The mother looks down at her daughter and watches as the little girls yawns.

"I believe it is time for bed," she whispered.

The mother leans over and kisses the little girls forehead not knowing the lost princess watched through the window above the girls bed. Listening.
