All the two of them could do was stare with a sinking feeling in their stomach. In the distance they could see a shining almost fantasy city. Little sparkles were moving around the towering buildings and above and below glass bridges. They could only assume they were vehicles of some sort or something similar. Between where they currently were and the shining city was a section which wasn't as nice. Their eyes traveled closer to where they were and the more broken down it was. Buildings were closed, pieces of roadways were damaged, windows were missing. In some places where the roadways were damaged there were pools of water which didn't look all that clean.
When they looked around where they were at they realized they were perched on a decaying concrete wall. Neither of them felt very safe perched on the edge the way they were. She was now starting to wonder why Sten was almost glued to her back. How the hell had he gotten his hands off the hand grasps for passengers? Her legs were positioned differently as well. Normally they were side by side but now her right foot was forward and her left back. His were much the same. For the moment, she wasn't going to worry about it but it felt... odd.
"What do we do now? After that slide thing and landing I'm feeling rather lost. Do you think we can get back to the light we came through?" He was definitely starting to feel concerned about what happened and why. If they couldn't get back home soon what were they supposed to do?
Risty was wondering the same thing herself, "I can try. It was pretty much a straight shot from here to there. Just hope there aren't more cargo vehicles where they shouldn't be." This was going to be difficult to get off the ledge since the flyers weren't really designed for doing things like 180 degree turns. After rolling on the lift power she did something, what she wasn't sure. The lifter almost dropped on its side as she applied the throttle to the thrusters in almost opposite directions. They snapped around and were facing the ramp they had come through. When she looked she realized it was going under a culvert and the concrete thing was a piece which had been broken off.
She sat there and idled after righting the flyer she hovered there for a moment before moving. Something was bothering her though she couldn't quite touch what it was. They had avoided the rubble by the skin of her teeth. With a shrug of her shoulders she applied thrust and pressed forward on the controllers. They shot down the ramp far faster than she was used to.
Sten almost screamed when she did some snap spin thing with the flyer before stopping, "What the hell was that Risty? How the hell did you do that?" He didn't get a chance to say anything else before they shot forward and dropped a few feet for the lifters to grab hold. When they went down the ramp he pushed her shoulder again. They appeared to be pointed at the rubble again. He felt like he needed to bump her shoulder and faintly twist her hips. The moment he was sure they weren't going to hit it he stopped what he was doing.
When they shot out the other side they again were aimed at the sky. Risty powered back on the thrust though she did do another 180 turn and suddenly they shot down. They weren't going nearly as fast as at first. Again what she did she wasn't sure of but was glad Sten didn't bump or push her. Looking forward she saw an angled side of a building which should work to angle off of. She shifted her body slightly even as she played with the controls to her flyer. They slid into the side of the building with a bit of a jolt. They hadn't hit the building but they were going faster than was recommended. The question he asked she hadn't heard.
When she did the twist turn thing Sten didn't move other than to match what her body was doing. He wasn't pushing against her or pulling as he had. He really wanted to know how the hell she was doing whatever it was she was doing. A flyer shouldn't have this sort of capability unless it was one for acrobatics. It didn't help when they almost bounced off some building and shot forward again. Thankfully it wasn't nearly as fast.
