I stood there in dark light,
My eyes brimming with tears in a cold night.
Oh, I was kind, but broken inside,
I tried to push the desperation aside.
I wanted to be strong and find a place to belong.
I cried and cried until tears no longer came.
Thinking about the people who wouldn't let me stay the same.
I wanted to stand up against the world.
But, I wiped my tears and walked away,
Without even a second of delay.
I could have stood there and let them mock.
Thinking and thinking all over again,
That all my kindness has gone in vain,
And I lie here broken inside in the midst of this cold night.
