Starting with "BEGIN", JungKook is shown shaken by a nightmare.

Symbols of a black bird and death are constant in the film and represent the death of JunKook's dreams of his youth.

Frightened and looking for comfort, he is alone and wears the black bird on his chest.

He is then shown to be working on a self-portrait that has vibrant colors (a constant motif that represents the anxiety of youth in the films).

The portrait goes ablaze, forcing JungKook to come to terms with the death of his youth.

In reference of the novel, Sinclair sees himself in Demian, and so JungKook sees Suga within himself as well.

When the painting catches on fire (representing growing pain), he sees not just himself on fire, but Suga as well, so he calls out for him in denial.

Blood splatters on the portrait and the death of JungKook's adoration for Suga ends; this allows him to mature and to break out of his "egg" and join the others who were able to fly away at the end of the film.

JungKook, who is the youngest of the group, is shown to be the first to have "awakened".
