Paige’s Pov*

“Goodbye Melbourne! I will miss you!” Rose shouted, pretending to wave and give kisses to our entire home city when really, she was only talking to a bunch of now empty chairs.

Rose and I were now at the airport. Our suitcases were all packed and sent off. We were now just about to board the plane. After sitting in the waiting area for what seemed like hours, we finally heard a voice say through the speakers that our plane was soon to depart.

I was wearing some comfy black leggings and a baggy pink jumper with white hearts on it. I also had my navy blue converses on and my hair was plaited in a fish tail braid. I had a small backpack to take on the plane. Rose was sporting high waisted denim jeans with a short sleeve white T-shirt (she apparently wasn’t cold though she had goose bumps all over her arms!)

For the last time, I turned around to look back at the airport. This is it. I am now leaving the city I have called home for 18 years. I am now heading towards London, where I will live my dreams of becoming an actor.

People were wondering about caught up in their own lives as per usual. Some were wondering about exploring the shops, trying to kill time before they boarded the plane. Others had seated in the waiting area, trying to catch on with how fast their lives are going by. This is while the rest, including what Rose would have done, were trying to find the nearest café because their stomachs were apparently mourning non-stop.

But those who caught my attention where the group of people standing in front of me. There was a young girl, probably in her twenties, standing next to her family. She was dressed in a jumper and trousers, had short blonde hair that was bundled up in a bun, and was carrying a pink tote bag to take on the plane. From here, I could tell her eyes were red and she had tears streaming down her cheeks.

The girl gave her parents both a kiss on the cheek, before moving on to another older girl who I assume is her sister because they looked alike. They hugged for a long time before the older one whispered something into the girl’s ear and her lips broke into a warm smile.

Seeing this almost made my heart melt. This girl, whoever she was and wherever she placed herself in this world, did not know how she was. She had a family, a true one that cared for her very much. I could feel my vision getting slightly blurry as some tears started to sweal up in my eyes.

I miss her. Every single day and every single night, I would think of her. It is like her soul is always with me because everywhere I turn; I am faced with a reminder of her.

She was my everything; the only person who looked after me and offered me love. We used to be more than just family; we used to be the best of friends. She always knew the right thing to say, she knew how to make me feel better in my darkest hour. It was like, whenever she was around; the dark clouds that taunted my life would fade away and light would come in.

But now, she was gone. And the worst part is, it was all my fault.

I turned back the other way, not bearing to think about it anymore. But before I had a chance to, I saw the older sister call out something to the girl, who now had walked up to near where I was standing. “I love you sis, I will always.”

She turned around and replied “I love you too,” her voice coming out as a whisper.

A lump grew at my throat and I could feel a pain in my chest. Those two girls cared for each other. They loved each other. They had each other. But me, I don’t have anyone.

And that’s what hurt the most; seeing love right before your eyes and knowing that it would never happen to you.

I looked away and instead, turn my attention towards Rose. I bet she was feeling to same way; she was feeling loss and pain just like I was. But the difference is Rose is strong, she can look after herself; she had protect herself from evil.
