CCM origins

2020 note: this was written when i was like 12. it's not a story, but it is a memory i want to treasure and be able to access even if i lose the password to this account. so, here it is, in all its embarrassing glory.

Walking down the stairs with my crazy best friend.

"hey, Had"-Gladys called my nickname, so i decided to use her nickname as well-"you want to run?"

i glanced over at her and she seemed to understand.

We glanced around to make sure Claire, our other friend, wasn't following and when we saw her with another group of friends, we ran.

We ran until we were out of sight from any of our other obnoxious classmates.

Then, i pulled out the most magnificent thing ever.

A

Candy cane.

I held it out and it caught the attention of Gladys, who tipped her head back gradually and widened her eyes before giving me a sidelong glance.

I smirked and tossed her a candy cane.

"three, two, one."

We shoved the canes into our mouths.

We were quiet for a while, just staring at each other, not even blinking. Then...

"HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAGAGAGAGGAAGAHAHAHAHHAGA!!!"

We burst out laughing like the maniacs that we are. We had absolutely  NO idea why we laughed that hard but we did.

We could not breathe and just laughed. Until...

"You guys are assholes." Claire panted as she stopped beside us, gasping for air.

Gladys twirled around like an idiot while laughing and i was gasping for air as i laughed.

"Why did you guys leave me there?" Claire asked when she could breathe again.

Gladys and I were still laughing. Claire got ticked off and asked us again.

Gladys and I just could not stop laughing.

"why are you idiots laughing?!"

"no....idea..."
We said between laughter and gasping for air.

"idiots."

"pfft HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!!!"

We continued laughing. Then, we tried to be serious. We stopped laughing at the same time but we made a terrible mistake.

We stared at each other and the corner of our lips tugged up until we were bursting out laughing again. Claire's face was priceless.it was a face of so many emotions, but we all know that was not why we continued to laugh.

We had absolutely no idea why we laughed so hard at eating a candy cane for our first time.

As the cane got smaller, we actually felt sad.

Then, Claire prodded us for answers.

"why did you guys leave me to walk with the class?"

Gladys and i instinctively looked at each other again. And laughed like maniacs again.

"stop laughing god damnit!"

But...

We did anyway. She never got the answer to her question.

In class, i sat behind Gladys and in front of Claire.

Bitch chan is the nickname/code name for our bitchy teacher who piles us with work.

While Bitch chan was explaining/going through worksheets, Gladys turned to me and handed me a piece if paper which is folded in half.

I opened it up and what i saw, i nearly burst out laughing.

It was what happened about 30 mins ago. And we decided to call whenever we ate a candy cane and died laughing, Candy Cane Madness.

And we laughed.
Every.
Goddamn.
Time.
We.
Ate.
A.
Candy.
Cane.

If you're wondering what was in the folded paper, it was a comic and details about when, where and who took part in creating this wonderful diesease Gladys and i have. It was CCM and also a case of severe idiocy.

She made a literal comic. With speech bubbles and everything.

Seriously, i never laughed so hard and so much in one day.

Thank you for the sweet memories, Gladys and Claire.
