It was a humid, September morning in 1942. Just a month before, the city of Stalingrad was alive. The streets pulsed like living veins with people greeting one another was unbreakable kindness. However, later that month, it all changed and Nazi Germany invaded. The buildings are now rubble, and the sky is dark with fire and ash, echoes of voices that once lived there. Instead of conversations, all you hear is gunfire in the distance, with German bomber planes drowning them out. The Wehrmacht begins their morning patrol. 21 year old Private Edward Panzer, a 6'3 Tan wolf from Munich Germany, and 24 year old Lance corporal Aston Gunter, a 6'1 Husky from Hamburg are hitching a ride on a tiger tank, patrolling the streets. Gunter's right paw reaches for a cigarette. With lighter in his other paw, he sparks it. Panzer who is opposite side of Gunter on the tank, is looking at his reflection through the shine of his MP40. Gunter takes off his helmet to wipe the sweat from his forehead
Gunter: Damn it's hot! It's only 6AM!
Panzer: better enjoy it. Winter's coming.
A whistle sounds off in the distance and the tank stops
Gunter: what's the hold up?
There is no response, Panzer looking at the foggy distance. Nothing. Gunter investigates. He moves up the street, pulling the lever of his MP40, instantly loading it.
Gunter: Hello? Is someone there?
He sees about 9 Russian soldiers approaching, hands up and being held hostage by gunpoint. By 10 Nazi soldiers behind them
German soldier: Move it pigs!
Gunter moves in a little bit more, but is approached my General Ludendorff. A 6'10 Great Dane who has alot of scars, with grey tinted fur.
Gunter holds his gun in formation, and salutes to the general. His body stiff
Ludendorff: at ease corporal *smirks*
Gunter crosses his hands over his stomach. Meanwhile, on the tank a few blocks behind, Panzer begins to get impatient. He hops off the tank to see where Gunter went.
Panzer: Gunter Come on! We gotta get mov- *he notices the general and freezes* Ludendorff walks towards Panzer, smiling
Ludendorff: Good morning Private
Panzer salutes to him, his paw shaking "G-good morning sir.."
Ludendorff: Corporal Gunter!
Gunter runs to them "Sir"
Ludendorff: you two came at the perfect time. I need two soldiers to burn the bodies after we execute.
Panzer: w-what bodies sir?..
Ludendorff points at the Russian POWs. Panzer takes a good look at them. They look young. Very young. Most of them aren't even out of their teens.
Panzer: but sir...b-burn?...
Ludendorff: Yes! That's an order private! And Gunter, I want you to assist Panzer on this one.
Gunter: Yes sir! *He salutes to him*
Panzer is surprised how obligated Gunter is. He turns towards the general, "Yes sir"
