Sorry about such an incredibly late update, we've had a ton of homework and other busy stuff so yeah... busy. Also if you guys could check out my drawing on top of how I imagine the characters (even if I drew Eryn a bit tall and they never would be caught dead standing that close to each other, they're too afraid of cooties) This chapter is also super short but there's gonna be pretty fun one (I hope) coming soon. Comment on how you think the story is going or if you have any ideas. Thanks so much ~ Skybunnies

After what seemed like a million years, Eryn finally began to get the hang of riding a horse. Well, sort of. Okay so she was still clinging desperately to the reins, knuckles white. You can't be good at everything, she told herself to make her feel better.

"You keep telling yourself that," Rollin called back. Eryn could practically hear the smirk on his face as she realized, blushing scarlet, that she had said the last part out loud.

She recovered quickly however and shot back, "Well at least I have the decency to dress normally, I keep getting distracted by your dress."

"It's not a dress!" Rollin shouted before visibly relaxing and turning back to face her, "It's a very manly jacket given only to the best in the wizarding class and I happen to be the best in my class."

Eryn stared back at him unimpressed, "Uh huh, so how many people did you have to bribe?"

She could practically see the smoke blowing out of his ears as she triumphantly sat back lazily in her saddle. The victory was made even sweeter by the fact that she managed to do it without falling off the horse.

When Rollin spoke again, he spoke with forced patience and a strained voice, "How dare you, people would kill for this jacket-,"

"Poncho," Eryn corrected.

"I don't expect lowly street scum to understand the ranks of mages."

"And I don't expect a preppy filth pile to understand how much I really don't care," Eryn shot back.

"Guys!" Sephris interrupted desperately, "Please."

Eryn realized guiltily that Sephris was massaging her temples and actually looked a bit in pain. The uneven bouncing of the horses probably wasn't helping matters either. She looked over at Rollin and he was clenching his jaw, staring straight ahead.

"Are you alright?" She asked Sephris, a little concerned for her companion.

Sephris sighed, "Yeah, but you guys are going to need to learn how to get along."

"He's the wizard in a dress, not me," Eryn whined.

"IT'S NOT A DRESS!" Rollin yelled.

"And the sky isn't blue," Eryn replied, then paused looking up at the reddening sky. The sun was sinking lower behind the horizon, coloring the sky a deep scarlet color. "Whatever,"

"I guess nature is proving me rig-" Rollin was cut off as a large flock of birds rose from the trees cawing.

"That's not creepy at all," Sephris muttered and Eryn nodded in agreement.
