Alright! Here is another short story that I wrote on my other account and felt like posting on here.
I came up with the idea for it with my best friend who I assigned the character Virgo to. My ex-boyfriend is Pisces and her boyfriend is Leo. Of course, I'm in the story too, but I want you to see if you can figure out who I am ;)
And now, on with the story!
"Go. The slaves in the kitchen could use an extra hand. Or whatever it is that you call your hand." My father smirked, pointing to the kitchens. I looked into his eyes, searching his for a small hint of regret from my bowed position on the floor, but I found none. Nodding once, I stood and sent a last glance at my mother, who had fought for me and my rights, but failed. I sent another glance to my older brother, who was smirking from his seat next to my father's throne. And finally, I sent one last remorseful glance to my little sisters, who were cuddled together and watching me with wide eyes. Then, I turned on my heel and practically ran for the kitchens, willing my tears against falling.
"And don't forget to clean this hall later! I don't want your nasty scent all over the fine tapestries and my throne!" My father called after me. I stopped, nodded, and sprinted for the door. My brother's laughter echoed after me.
"Alex!" I let out a gasp and sat upright, still shaking from my dream. Or rather, from my memory. My pale green eyes flew to see Virgo standing right beside me, holding a lantern out so that she could see my face in the darkness. I'm positive I looked a sight - cheeks flushed and pale, face sweaty, and eyes slightly crazed while still foggy from sleep.
"Was I screaming again?" I asked her softly. She nodded. I let my eyes drift to the blanket.
"Were you having that dream again?" She asked.
"Yeah."
"Do you want to try and sleep for a bit longer, Aquarius? It's still early in the morning - your shift isn't for another few hours." Virgo asked. In response, I stood up and stretched.
"Nah. I've only got a few hours - and I'm likely to get an extra couple of chores anyway." I nearly moaned when my stiff joints popped, giving me a loose and airy feeling that was simply delightful.
"But Pisces, Leo and I can take care of those. You need to rest." She sounded a bit nervous, which made me slightly suspicious. Why was she so adamant as to my resting? What was she hiding?
"Well, Virgo, I'm not going to get any more rest, so there's no point in urging the matter." I replied sharply. She watched me for a moment before nodding.
"Your clothes are in the wardrobe. Today, you have to-"
"Sweep and mop the floors, dust the rooms, polish the shoes, polish the thrones, as well as serve Their Royal Assholes and make sure the young ones get to bed on time for their first day of school tomorrow. I also have to wake each member of the household and ensure they know their daily agenda. Honestly, Virgo, I have the same routine every day."
"And you're sure you don't want Pisces or I to take some of those?" Virgo asked worriedly.
"Nah. You know how the Prince gets when I don't awaken him and his sisters."
"They're your sisters too, Aquarius."
"Don't refer to them as my siblings. Their father clearly expressed how he felt about me and my abilities when he branded me as a slave at the age of eight." I paused. "And Virgo?"
"Yes?" Good to know she was listening.
"Don't call me Aquarius. My name is Alex." With that, I slammed the door behind me, stalking down the hallway. A few slaves passed me when I was making my way to the kitchens, but none of them stopped me, likely sensing my foul mood. When I hit the kitchens, however, I stopped outside the door, fixed my attitude, and strode in with a smile on my face.
