Scattered Memories [Prince of Tennis]

A New Student

"-no..."

"-kuno..."

"Sakuno-chan!" A soft yell was heard just outside her room. Slowly opening her sleepy eyes as she rubs off the drowsiness away. 

"I'm up uncle." she replied to her uncle as she rolled off her bed after having a little time of staring off in a distance. It was like a routine for her, staring off at the ceiling as she recalled the things happening yesterday till that exact moment, in order to remember again. She was still trying to make herself feel like home, it had only been two weeks and she was not doing a lot of improvement in terms of gathering her memories.

It seems that she lost her memories of her close people, but fortunately she remembers her grandmother after a few days she got released. 

Fitting in her uniform, she got out of her room when she finished and the moment she opened the door a delicious scent had filled the house. Her legs brought her into the dining room, her uncle had served breakfast for three people for today which made her confused.

Wait, I didn't suddenly lost my memories again right? Uncle usually prepare two meals cause Riku-kun doesn't eat breakfast. He eats brunch instead. So why...? 

As if her uncle can read her thoughts he voiced out,
"Today Riku will be attending to your school Sakuno-chan. All his transfer documents just finished yesterday so I hope you both will be able to get along well ok?"

"Eh? Riku-kun will be in my school starting today? But why?"

"Well it's easier if you two are in the same school. Oh, and since you two are the same age, he might be in the class as you?" he let out a chuckle as he sat down at the table, ready to dig in.

Sakuno nods, letting the information register in her mind. When she was about to put her first food in her mouth, her right hand which was holding the fork, was lifted upward and in a flash the food disappeared into another's mouth. 

"Hmm, as expected of Otou-san. It tastes good." Riku munched the little bits of the food he had stole from Sakuno while he flashed her a smile of his own as if he didn't do any wrong just a second ago. Sakuno being Sakuno, flushed red and couldn't utter a word due to embarrassment and shocked. 

"Oi, Riku don't do that to Sakuno-chan." said his father while eyeing him.

"Heheh, sorry. It's just she took too long just to put the food in her mouth and I was starving. Sorry Sakuno, here let me make it up to you,"  he said as he picked up his own food using a spoon and motioned for her to open her mouth, "here, ahhh"

"Wa- no I- I'm fine, you don't have tu-" before she could finish he pushed the spoon into her mouth, making her utter nonsense instead in which laughter erupted from him while his father tried to remain calm though the end of his lips turned up a bit.

"Riku! Stop teasing her, poor Sakuno-chan. There, there." His dad came up to Sakuno and pat her back, trying to ease her a bit.

Still laughing Riku replied, "I-aha, swear it wasn't on purpose. Just pffftt- she looked so red and I just feel like it ahaha"

"Alright enough teasing, you two need to hurry up before it's late." with the last couple of laughter, all of them hurried up finishing  their meal and off to their destination.

"So, um, Riku-kun... Which class are you in?" he answered the question by showing her his schedule.

"I'm guessing I can't count on you of knowing where my class might be?" 

"Wha- well too bad for you. I know that class, it's just next to mine!" Sakuno exclaimed with a triumph face and an almost smug face which made Riku stared at her. "What? Why are staring at me? Do I got something on my face?"

"Yeah you do."

"Really?! Where is it?" hearing his statement made her hands in a scramble, trying to get rid of the said thing he said until she froze in place, hearing his next words,

"You've got a good expression on right now, that's what." he plastered a quick smile before hurrying off in the hallway while he added, "Come on I don't wanna be late on my first day you know," 
Trying to ignore the sudden picked up pace of her heart beat, she just nodded and tried to catch him up.

When they reached at their respective classrooms, they parted ways. The moment Sakuno took three steps in, she heard her name being half shouted by two different voices, a high pitched voice and a smoother male voice behind her making others poured their attention at them too. She turned around and saw her best friend, Tomo-chan, and Riku at the slide doorway staring at each other first then looked at her. Riku, taking the first act, said "let's go lunch together okay!"

Sakuno's eyes went wide as she could not even uttered a single word due to shock while everyone else was shocked too including the cat like eyes that just woken up from his little nap a while ago.

"WHAT? You can't take her away from me! She's having lunch with ME" Tomoka instead replied breaking the awkward silence that was penetrating in her classroom as everyone was shocked about the declaration and not knowing who the guy was.

"Then we can have lunch together then, the three of us. Ok, that's decided. See you later Sakuno and you too uhh-"

"Osakada Tomoka."

"Right, Osakada-san." with that he bid farewell and went to his classroom. Her classmates were finally brought back to reality as they slowly started to talk and questions aiming for Sakuno were starting to rise up, asking if they have anything going on, which she quickly denied and some girls asking for his name and such. Looking more agitated, a sudden announcement made they class immediately grew quiet, "Ah, the teacher is coming." thus making everyone quickly taking their seats. She looked at the source of the voice as it turns out to be Ryoma.

"AHH, Echizen you're lying! There's nobody at the hallway!" exclaimed Horio looking all annoyed for being tricked at as he walked back to his seat after quickly running to look at the hallway. Hearing that, the others also let out some small arguments at him but he just continue his little nap.

Tomoka locked eyes on Sakuno , as if sending her an unspoken dialog, Did he... lie just to help you? Or am I thinking too much? but Sakuno just blinked, unable to get her message which she just sighed at her slow friend.
