I looked around me for the rest of that day. Trying to spot unfriendly looks from across the class or peculiar messages handed on my desk.

Unfortunately, dating one of the most popular boys in school, you always get funny looks and notes in class.

The bell rang for the end of the day and I sighed with relief, well more than I usually do. I packed my stuff and walked out.

I waited and waited for my mum to pick me up. I waited and waited and waited. She didnt turn up.

She rang me up 'Sorry Darling, I am still in the meeting with Jean Paul Lavesque, you know the gay man with exquisite fashion sense? Anyway mummy can't pick you up sorry darling. Kisses!' And just like that she hung up.

Daddy was in New York for his company's conference. So that meant I had to walk, in the dark, to my house.
