A small elven girl wonders through the forest, she seems alone. Turning down the road from her local village to head to the stream to get water for her elderly grandmother. The glowing flowers light up the damp dark forest. A small shining of light peaks through the tall slumbering trees. She finally arrives at the small stream when she hears someone calling out her name.

"Nylah!" The voice of a little boy calls from the pathway. She looks around for the location of the voice, when she sees a small elven boy no taller than she. He runs up the path toward her as he comes to a tumbling stop into the water. She giggles. The boy is no other than her white headed bestfriend, Alexzander. She continues to get the water from the stream as Alex climbs out of the water. Nylah notices Alex has his bow and arrows.

"Nylah, let's go deeper into the forest." Alex pants.

Nylah climbs out of the stream holding the small wooden bucket in her arms.

"I have to bring grandmother her water first." Nylah states walking away. Alex runs after her still trying to catch his breath.

"Father wants me to get tonight's dinner and I want someone with me." Alex whines. Nylah rolls her eyes and continues walking. After awhile of silence, both the children come to the village of Karse in the High Forest. Nylah runs up to her small cottage near the edge of the village to see her grandmother sitting outside with her mother.

"Nylah, pour the water into the cooking pot so it'll start boiling." Her feeble grandmother says. As Nylah runs into the house, a small toddler sized elf runs inside the house. Nylah scoops up the little girl and hugs her.

"I haven't seen you all day!" the little girl exclaims, and hugs her tighter.

"I've missed you too Aya, now where did Father go? I have to ask him if I could go hunting with Alexzander."  Nylah questions.

"Your father is working, as usual, Nylah." A familiar voice states from the front of the room. Nylah turns around quickly and sees a young woman with long golden hair standing beside the door. It was her mother, Talilia. Nylah runs up to her mother to give her a hug, she feels a big belly poking her and giggles.

"When is Arawen going to be here, Mother?" Nylah smiles and looks up to her mother.

"Not soon enough." Her mother lightly laughs.  Nylah runs outside to Alexzander whose talking to Grandmother. Her grandmother gives her a nod, telling her to run off and play. Nylah grabs her bow and the children run off into the edge of the forest. After an hour of walking around the woodland area, Alex notices a big buck grazing the fields, he motions for Nylah to get down before she scares it off. Alex pulls back on his bow and let's loose an arrow,  missing by miles. Alexzander looks disappointed while Nylah tries to hold back her laughter. She quickly pulls back her bow and lets loose her arrow, hitting the buck in the temple.

"Dang, I was aiming more for the ear!" Nylah exclaims. Alex gives her a look of amazement. She runs off toward the field to get their kill. Nylah pulls her arrow out of the temple of the gigantic buck, cleaning the blood off. Alex pulls his hunting dagger out of his sheath, quickly cutting the buck open to be cleaned. Both children start to stand up but hear a slight noise making them both fall back to the ground. A figure steps into their line of view.

"What the hell is that thing?!" Alex whispers frantically. Nylah squints her eyes, trying to catch what or who was standing in front of them. Her eyes grow big, Alex gives her a questioning look while trying to see for himself. Nylah quickly pulls him down.

"You idiot! You don't just stand up to see what lies ahead!" She whispers angrily. Alex looks down.

"Sorry..." He whispers.

"That's an orc, you dolt!" Nylah rolls her eyes. The children quickly try to make their way back toward Karse. Finally after an eternity of sneaking around they make their way home.

"Mother! Mother!" Nylah screams running into the house. Her mother stands up with a questioning look on her face.

"What's wrong, Nylah?" Her mother asks worriedly. Nylah continues to explain what had happened in the forest.

"There was an orc!" The children screeched. Everyone turns toward grandmother who seems to be laughing.

"What's so funny? This is a serious topic Mother!" Nylah's mother tells her. It was at this point that both children's fathers come back.

"What's everyone so worked up about?" Nylah's father Elyon asks.

"The children seem to believe that they saw an orc in the forest." Grandmother says jokingly. Elyon kneels down to his daughters level to speak to her.

"You are positive you saw an orc, Nylah?" He questions. Nylah nods. Everyone quiets down, even grandmother. Nylah and Alex's fathers head outside and within a few minutes they both come back inside.

"Alexzander, head on home to your Mother." Alex's father says rudely. Nylah looks up to her father in confusion. Alex looks down as he walks out the front door, while his father follows.

"I don't understand..." Nylah states looking up at her father. Elyon looks down at his small child with saddened eyes.

"Since you are the one who said it was an 'orc' that you saw, Alex's father doesn't want you around him anymore." Her father replies. Nylah nods her head as she walks away into her room. Shortly after, her mother comes into the room and sits beside her on the bed.

"Your father and I believe you Nylah, and starting tomorrow you both will go out looking for the orc." Talilia says smiling. Nylah hugs her mother goodnight and falls asleep.
