Natalia's POV
"Good morning Talia," Mrs. Summers smiled, as I walked into the kitchen, I forced a smile and wiped my eyes. "So, listen, I heard about your day yesterday and I am so sorry for what happened."
"Don't be sorry, Mrs. Summers, it wasn't anyone's fault but mine. I should've checked the seat before sitting, and I should've made sure no one was coming when I was getting up."
"Still. If that happens again, where you just want to come home, just call me and I'll come pick you up."
"Oh, no. Mrs. Summers, that's not necessary."
"You're living with us for a little now, you're my responsibility. If you want to come home, you just tell me and I'll pick you up."
"Thank you." I bounced on the balls of my feet, "so, where's Jason?"
"I believe he said something about playing with your sister in her room." Oh, no.
"Oh, well, I'll go make sure she's alright. She doesn't usually play around this time of morning." I walked up the stairs and heard giggling coming from Macey's room.
"Hey Mace."
"Hi Natty."
Kneeling down in front of her, so my back was facing Jason, I picked up one of her toys, "what are you doing?" I'm not going to say anything to Jason while she's in the room, she doesn't need to hear it.
"We're making cakes. See mine? It says your name on it."
"Oh, wow. Thank you," I took the play-dough cake from her small hands, "Mrs. Summers is making breakfast, why don't you go wash up and head down stairs? Jason and I will clean up your mess." She nodded, wiped her tutu off and skipped out of the room.
"I told you to stay away from my sister."
"She's four, what do you want me to do? Say no to play with her?"
"Yes, she can take no's very well."
"I'm not saying no to a four-year-old." Two can play at this game.
Jason's POV
"Mom, we're going upstairs!" When there was no reply, there was only one explanation. Her pills kicked in and she was asleep. Jackson and Nick ignored my call to my mom and continued to talk up the steep steps.
"Yo, you got the new game?" Jackson asked.
"Yeah."
"That party at Duke's house was sick. You went wild that night." Nick laughed.
There was a knock on my door, which there never is, meaning it wasn't someone who usually belongs here, "keep talking your shit."
The door opened and in walked Talia in her shorts and tank top. Nick and Jackson both stared at her. "What do you want."
"Oh, Macey said you took something of hers. I think it was that play- dough cake you made this morning." I narrowed my eyes at her, knowing exactly what she was doing. I break her rule, she breaks mine.
"Dude, why is she in your house?" Nick asked.
"Yeah, man. You out of all people let her in your house? You do know she is, like, contaminated, right?"Jackson asked. I cracked a smile, but it dropped once I saw Talia's facial expression.
"Sorry to bother you." She whispered, before leaving the room. A few minutes later, mom came into the room.
"You boys should be ashamed of yourselves. You hurt that poor girl," she pointed to all of us, "Nick, Jackson, you can leave. And your mothers will be informed."
