Chap #2
We pulled into the mall lot, only to have people staring at us and glaring at us, as if they thought their looks could falter our minds.
I knew this was a small town, but not small enough for people to be like this to new comers.
I followed about a yard behind Ace, she was the guard. I was the eyes. Even though I kept my hood up and covered my face from your view, I knew every single thing going on around me. I felt every stare, every glare, every motion. Each turning into a chain reaction.
We walked into a store called Forever21. A lot of girls around our age seemed to be in here.
Ace and I went straight to the back keeping out of everyone's eyesight. I looked at a lot of shirts and pants. I could tell that none of this stuff would be very comfortable. So we went to a different store called American Eagle.
As I walked in I could instantly smell an odd odor. It was obviously a cologne.
I picked out a lot of plain shirts and pants and shorts. Ace's collection looked a lot like mine.
We paid then walked into a shoe store only to be in awe by the size. It was so large it looked like it's own mall of footwear.
We walked in and grabbed a couple boxes each of shoes. We sat down on one of the seats and tried some boots, running shoes, combat boots, construction boots and converse. We bought a pair of those each.
We then walked out and back to our truck, looking at different stores on the map Linda gave us, we decided on one called Ross.
We drove into the more sketchy looking part of town while looking for the last store we were looking for. Walmart.
Ace always wants to ride in the cart while we shop even though she's sixteen and way too old for that. I don't mind because I get a good work out doing it.
We walked in and right as Ace saw the carts and picked the one she thought looked "coziest" whatever that meant, then she literally jumped right in.
I shook my head but started pushing the cart toward the clothing section. In the end we both had a lot of underwear, pajamas, shirts, pants, we each had a new swimsuit, a jacket, moccasins, and a few snacks and candy. We also got backpacks. Mine was black leather with army green leather straps, Ace's was a black military pack with red outlining. We got a stereo and some CDs too.c
When we got home we both had our hands and arms full of shopping bags. Linda looked like she had just one the lottery even though it was the exact opposite.
