Chap #8

(Liesl's P.O.V.)

I walked through the tall grass, taking my time, thinking about the situation, gliding my fingers carefully over the branches of small persimmon trees that came from coyotes.

I came up to the fence from last night. The horses were playing and running and eating and drinking. Living a care free life.

"They have it so easy." Ace muttered next to me.

"Hm." Was my short reply.

"Why'd you leave so early?" She asked innocently.

"Why'd you try sucking Mason's face off?"

"What? I didn't do anything like that! Why would I do that?!"

"I don't know, why would you." I stated more then asked.

"Because I like him?" She made it sound like a question.

"Listen, I understand how you feel. But it wasn't until after I had to see you two kissing, that I understood how you felt."

I spoke while petting a horse that came up to us for attention. I bent down and grabbed a hand full of grass, then stuck it slowly in front of his mouth. He sniffed it then ate out of my palm.

She looked at me skeptically, then shrugged it off.

"I see the way you and Dean look at each other, I also saw him running after you when you ran out of the school... Spill your guts!"

I rolled my eyes then shook my head, I wasn't going to tell her I was falling for him.

Even though I always, told Ace everything, I was still upset about what she did. And I felt a little betrayed.

"Linda wants us to come for dinner, Dean is staying I think." I spoke quietly, but knew she could hear me, as we walked back towards the house.

"Cool."

(Dean's P.O.V.)

I walked up the stairs and over to Liesl and Ace's room. I gently knocked, but knew no one would answer, so I walked in and sat Liesl's bag on her bed, but couldn't help looking at the picture of her family. It was her, I'm guessing, two little brothers, they looked like twins, and their parents. She looked just like her mom. The boys looked like their dad.

Mason told me what happened, my heart wrenched at the thought of Liesl having to go through that.

I shook my head trying to push that aside for now, and walked out of their room closing the door and then knocked on Mason's door.

"Open!" He yelled over his music.

I opened the door only to have a basketball hit my forehead.

I frowned at Mason on his bed laughing his face off.

"I'm sorry-hahaha-I thought-haha-I could make-hahaha-it before you-hahaha-came in-hahahaha."

I rolled my eyes and stepped into the room, then sat on his desk chair.

"So, did you bring Liesl home?" He asked knowingly.

"Yeah, she was pretty upset with you two. Why'd you do that man?"

"Do what? Kiss Ace? Because I love her. I fell in love the minute I heard her story." He spoke with the truth glowing in his eyes.

"I understand dude, but you know her and Liesl are close, if you take one, the other falls."

"Yeah, I know. Is she ok?" He said, guilt plastered on his face.

"I think so, I talked with her. She understands and wants to talk to Ace, she went out to find her."
