Chapter Eight
*Avery's P.O.V.*
I just stood there in shock at what was going on. A loud, territorial growl escaped from my mouth. My wolf was chomping at the bit, begging to be released. I couldn't allow her to come forth and attack this girl. No matter how angry I was for her doing this. The rational part of me knew she had no idea Mason had found his mate while she was away.
I refocused on Mason and the girl and noticed. That Mason had his arm against her shoulder pushing her away from him.
"Avery?" I heard him say to me. I looked into his green eyes and shook my head trying to clear my scattered thoughts. "Are you alright?"
I sighed. "Yes, I am aright."
He had a look of shock on his face. "Ar-are you sure?"
I noticed Faith in the corner of my eyes being held back by Eli. I turned my gaze back towards the girl and she looked at me with confusion more than anything else.
I walked forward to her and said, "I'd very much appreciate it if you didn't kiss my mate again."
Her eyes widened and she stared at me in shock. "Did you say mate?"
"Yes, Mason is my mate." I told her as calmly as I possibly could. "So if I find you touching him ever again there will be consequences, alright?"
The girl nodded gently and I gave one short nod back. I began walking away from Mason and the rest of them until I felt a tug on my arm. "Where are you going?" Mason asked me.
I shrugged him off. "My wolf needs to be let out right now. I'm going for a run." I tried to walk away again, but I was stopped once more by him. This time his stopping me was accompanied by a growl.
"Don't walk away from me!" His voice was filled with authority.
I turned and face him my eyes turning black. "Don't speak down to me, Mason! You may be an Alpha, but I am a Luna. You have no right to speak to me as another member of your pack. I am going out for a run because my wolf needs to be let out before I do something too rash. I suggest you let go of me," I spat at him.
He glared at me for a minute, but then his eyes softened. "At least let someone go with you. If not me than please let Faith go without. I don't want you out in the woods when I have an enemy pack invading my territory more and more often," he pleaded me. "Please, Avery. I've only just begun my life with you. I don't want it be cut short because some rogue was on my land and killed you."
I wanted to angry with him. I really did. I wanted to pissed because he had a girlfriend before he left to visit my pack and he didn't tell me about her. He had a girlfriend who was waiting for him to come back to her. I felt so angry and so hurt from everything that had happened in the past few moments, but all of that somehow lessened when I could hear the desperation in his voice as he pleaded me to let Faith go out with me for a run. The concern he had for me, the amount of adoartion he had already begun to show seemed to close up the wound that somehow kept opening up. As much as I wish I could say all of our problems involving his past could be put behind us, I knew they wouldn't be. This was only the beginning of a world of problems I was sure were going to occur.
I looked into Mason's desperate green eyes then I looked towards Faith who was clearly in an arugment inside her head with Eli. They both looked massively pissed off at each other.
"Faith," I said trying to get her attention.
"Yes, Lu- I mean, Avery."
"Will you please come with me for a run so Mason doesn't have a panic attack will I'm out there?"
