"Fights never make a day break, only makes a night more lonely. Only in Brooklyn do two souls in the final stretch find themselves stuck in the same room, two lovers, but I feel so lonely as he lies two feet away."

- Brooklyn ( Written By Shea Avery on June 17, 2016 )

"So how did it go?" Rae asks while setting Anna up in her high chair at the end of the booth.

"Pretty well, not much to say other than I think, knowing Hunter, he is going to try to get me to go back home soon." I shrug and open the menu.

"He is very persistent , you know?"

"Oh I know." I continue to browse the menu.

"Shea, I know this might sound crazy and a cliche, but do you possibly think... your past is catching up to you?"

I set down the menu, staring at Rae for a few moments.

"I am not a big believer in gods and fate and all of that mess, but if it is... It is just happens. Life isn't calling on me to fix all the mess I have made." I pick the menu back up and continue reading, deciding on the strawberry waffles.

"I think it is Shea. You need to start mentally preparing yourself for what is to come. After all you let Hunter back in, who knows who will follow. You might just come face to face with Kim once again."

"Oh god. Kim. We both despise her, correct?"

"100%. God she was such a B*tch. I can't believe she tried to steal Clem right from under your feet. I hope life is treating her like the scum she is."

"Last I heard from Clem, she moved to Georgia and popped out a few kids." I inform Rae on my not so frequent updates from Clem about everybody.

"Different fathers?" I crack up laughing and everyone in the small diner thinks I am nuts.

"I'm paying today because of that one." I put my card down on the table and she smiles and leans back sipping her drink all proud of herself.

"But seriously, Shea... You should probably start preparing yourself for the things you ran away from... Including the one who have both been hiding even before you ran." I gulped knowing soon my world might turn upside down. I won't let that happen.

"That secret... is for me to tell."

"I know."

I nod and push all of those thoughts away. Soon we place our orders and I quickly check my phone to see a new message from my mom.

New message : Mother

We must catch up soon, hope you are doing well!! I love you!!

"I can't believe I am turing 25, Shea, I feel so old." Rae blurts out knowing I might be throwing her a surprise party in two weeks before I leave for LA to write with a new solo client of mine. I love to keep secrets.

"Because you are." I smile and look at Anna. "Isn't your mommy old?" I ask her and she giggles and smiles, then goes back to coloring her princess coloring book I bought her for her birthday last January.

"And I feel terrible that i'm going to be in LA for your 25th" I frown.

"For my birthday will you tell me who your client is?" She pushes the third time this week.

"I wish I could, but its super top secret, I would be sued if I told you."

"You seem to forget i'm a lawyer... I can easily find a loop hole in the contract."
