Trove Library was a calm and quiet place. Almost as calm as the town it resides in, Tiverton, Rhode Island. That library was almost a home to some people. And in the home, was a girl. She sat behind the casualties desk, checking the time as another girl walked in, ready to take her place for the night shift. The two girls nodded at each other as they spoke greetings and goodbyes.
The girl grabbed her stuff, consisting if a large coat, a scarf, a beanie, and black messenger bag. And made her way to a chair near the front door, stopping to put her coat, then her scarf, last covering up her frizzy waves with a hat. Reaching out for the door, she turned and looked back at the many isles of books with a smile before walking out.
the cold weather hit her with a sudden rush. Blowing winds chilled her, as she pursued the path, her apartment was no more two blocks away, so she always walked, even when it was freezing outside. She fairly enjoyed the idea of being able to walk alone in the quiet night and just... Think. It was pleasant.
Passing a glass wall from the library, a boy sat oddly in front of it. He was hunched over in a chair reading from his lap with his long legs bent in another. She watched him momentarily, taking in the sight of him. She'd never seen him around the library in all the time working there. But she smiled at him, she loved seeing people read as they were alone. As they stretched into weird but comfortable positions, while captivated by the world written on paper.
Taking mental note of his appearance, she pretended not to notice him smile at her when she walked away.
Her frozen rosy red cheeks became warm from smiling. The rest of her walk flew by as she thought of the unknown boy. His long legs, must be tall she thought, and his eyes and hair. She could talk about them for hours from her small glance at his face. He had this black hair, with his layered hair cut, the loose curls hit his face, and his eyes. His eyes, they weren't just blue. More of a solid green mix, maybe lovat. But either way, the way it contrasted with his hair amazed her. Now he wasn't some drop dead gorgeous model, but he had something going for him.
Once at her apartment, she walked in with a large grin. Throwing her bag to the ground and slipping off her warm coat that now made her feel suffocated in warmth of her room. She reached in drawers, grabbing something more comfortable, "Someone's in a good mood" a voice behind her sang. "Maybe" she smiled looking at the owner of the voice. A girl the same height as her, with shiny red hair, freckles and deep brown eyes stared at her with a smile. "Oh! Come tell aunt Annie everything" Annie urged, Annie was her spontaneous roommate to say the least. Annie sat on the bed opposite to hers, waiting for a reply.
The girl only smiled more, taking the clothes in her hand to the bathroom for a change.
"I saw somebody."
"Were they cute?"
"Very..! Okay well in my opinion, but he's nothing model or Godlike." She spoke from through the bathroom door before exiting in pajamas.
"Ella! This is good for you! I haven't seen you take interest in anyone in a while" Annie extolled. "Calm down," Ella said as she lay on her bed, "its nothing big, I just saw him reading at the library and thought he was cute. I've never seen him before, he's just a stranger," Ella stated. "Just a stranger," Annie mocked. "Whatever," Ella said laughing to herself as she threw a pillow at Annie.
"Are you gonna talk to him?" Annie asked
How could she? Would she ever see him again? Maybe if she saw him tomorrow she would. Or attempt to.
"If I see him again, then yeah, I guess so. But right now thats the least of my worries,, she said calmly looking over at Annie. "You lie- You have no worries so he is your only worry." Ella groaned with a laugh before turning over an ignoring Annie.
