Not a single cloud was in the sky that Chicago morning as Kathy Miller and Chad Mondel exited out of a Taxi that was not too far from their destination. Kathy Miller looked at the seemingly endless rows of skyscrapers that blotted the rising sun from view, and wondered how so many people can live in such a large city. Kathy and Chad had only arrived from the Chicago airport an hour before, and only had enough time to rent a hotel room. Both already wanted to be back at Shaderock Creek. Of course their hometown had a vast and grand city district, but Shaderock never got even a quarter of the attention that Chicago did.

Chad was a man of average build, brown hair, and blue eyes. He normally wore sweats, stayed at home, but since this occasion was formal, he wore a finely cut suit that was customized to his size. Kathy kept up appearance too. The angle of the sun hit her face in a way that revealed all of her features. She had brunette hair, and a nice set of hazel eyes that changed between green and blue depending on what she wore. Today she wore a nice black blazer over a white, buttoned sleeveless white shirt, a touch of bright red lipstick, a leather purse, and a sparkling pair of black high heels. The odd pair had a job interview, but not any normal interview.

For a few years, Kathy and Chad had worked together as a secret duo known as the Twin Daggers. Chad loved to call themselves modern day Robin Hoods, even though he didn't support the crazy antics Kathy pulled half the time. Their jobs were all unique in what needed to be done. Kathy and Chad did everything from burglary, theft, blackmail, trespassing, and in rare cases, assassination. Most situations however, revolved around helping someone in need when the law could not help. Kathy in particular was sensitive about that subject, as she was a police woman at Shaderock Creek, which was nothing new to Kathy or the city. Crime got so bad that not too long ago, a district was closed down, walled, and left for dead due to the increase in gang and crime violence.

Kathy was the best officer of the force, but many of Shaderock's mob bosses, gang leaders, and crime lords always found a way to shift the law. Many had the money, the persuasive skills, and the right advantage over corrupt law enforcement to escape a sentence. She became fed up with it, and couldn't have been more enraged. So one day she asked Chad- a skilled hacker- for his assistance in taking the law in her own hands. That day the Twin Daggers were born. They began by sweeping up some of Shaderock's criminals, as well as other major cities they could name up. They had occasional help, but most of the work was done by Kathy and Chad, and it wasn't long after they began getting clients needing their assistance.

The client that needed their help this time was a woman named Barbara Laurenson. A week before Kathy and Chad went to Chicago, she had heard rumors of the Daggers, and after following leads, found a way to send an email to the Twin Daggers. She a message to meet them at a local cafe on the outskirt of Shaderock Creek at a deadline. As Barbara questioned how she could afford an airline to Shaderock (for she was out of area), The Daggers merely told her to check her bank account. When she checked, the required funds for a two way trip were mysteriously placed, and the distressed woman felt no other choice but to go to this meeting.

It was a nice summer afternoon when she entered the musty cafe. The place was not too crowded nor was it empty. Chatter was exchanged gaily between each person. Several comfy seats called Barbara's name and the aroma of cocoa beans in the air made her mouth water. What does a twin dagger even look like?? Barbara wondered this before a voice behind yawned "are you Barbara?"

She turned around only to face a scruffy looking man who was in his pajamas, slippers, and had his hair sticking out in multiple directions. Chad looked at her with sleepy eyes. "Sorry ma'am, I just woke up. I came here for a morning coffee, so having you meet here is convenient for me," he says. "Sir, you do realize it's three in the afternoon right?" Barbara asked astonished. "Well, you know the saying. The early worm gets killed by the early bird." Barbara couldn't believe what she was hearing. This man was supposed to be the professional help for her problem? She gave a look of disbelief as a woman's voice behind Chad says "He can barely get out a paper bag, let alone his bed". Kathy enters nicely dressed in a pair of jeans, a blue tank top, and her hair wrapped in a bun. She shook hands with Barbara, and introduced herself and Chad under a fake name. "I'm Liana Smith, and my idiot for a partner is Michael Isaacs. We represent the Twin Daggers. Let's talk over coffee and food- don't worry I'll pay- Let's take a seat." Barbara glanced at Kathy's hand, reluctantly shook it, and followed suit.
